Hi all! I will say that I do feel better than yesterday, however since yesterday I have been having these dry heaves... what in the world could be causing this? I have had no pain issues, just these dry heaves from no where... could it be that I am drinking too fast or too much? Would an anti-nausea help?

Dear Anya, I am so sorry you have having this problem. I had a terrible time with Dry heaves after surgery but I was about 3 weeks out. Please call your surgeon. This early on they will want to know you are experiencing this. My surgeon's office suggested I take a motion sickness medicine which did not help at the time but now when I am nausous it does. I just think it's wise to call them for suggestions. My dry heaves were caused by a blockage and a potassium deficiency. I hope you feel better soon. Shannon

Anya, Please call the Duke clinic to make sure. I was having those to when I got home just for a few hours...but everyone's body is different and you want to be sure you are ok. Call and talk to Hillary or the surgeron. I hope that you feel better. Stephanie

Are you taking pain meds? If so is it vicodin? Many many many people (including myself) throw up from vicodin... since theres technically nothing to throw up you dry heave. I dry heaved in the hospital from it (forgot to say no vicodin!) and once I switched to a different pain med was fine
