I have to say that I am slightly discouraged after my first ps consult..I waited 4 months to get an appointment only to be told that there was NO WAY my insurance would pay for a tummy tuck...and it wasn't worth the effort to pursue it...I left there thinking oh well...I will just have to pay..but I am not rich and I pay alot of money every month to BCBS...The company even told me that they WILL cover the procedure to remove skin if it is medically necessary and the surgeons must write it up to explain it..I guess the trick is to find a surgeon who wants to go through the trouble to do that...Does anyone have any experience with surgeons in the area who are aggressive and willing to help with this battle???? My surgeon did say that my insurance would pay for pani?? Whatever that is, but I actually need a tummy tuck......I do have medical problems that are documented such as lower back pain...and pain in my previous 4 c section incisions..so I do not consider this cosmetic...Thank you for your help!!

Kimberly Before I ever started my ps journey I called all of the ps in the Charlotte area and asked if they submitted to insurance for the procedures. I found one in Charlotte who was willing to do this. I went to Dr. Stanley Getz. They did a hernia repair and anchor cut panniculectomy which insurance paid for it all. The hernia was actually performed by another surgeon (Dr. Heniford). They were great. Most insurances will only pay for the panni. If you want the muscle tightening most have to pay in addition to their insurances. Some ps will do it at no additional charge, but they will tell you that upfront. My only words of advice for you is to not have unreal expectations. You will not come out looking like a supermodel, no matter what. You will look much better, your clothes will fit you better. There are days that I think my surgery wasn't successful, but I then look at my before pictures and see the miraculous results. Good luck. Just call, call, call! Larry
