I hate all of he post-op drinks!
OK so what do you do if you hate evey drink you have tried? I'm a super picky eater anyway and this struff is gross! I can't even take any of the chewable vitamins because they are so nasty. All I've had since surgery last Monday is water and a little sugar free jello. Surely there must be other picky eaters who have encountered this - what did you do?
I'm a very very picky eater as well...I had so may protein drinks here at the house that I loved before surgery and now all of them make me throw up..even the chicken broth. Have you tried the carnation instant breakfast I can get thoes down if I use some of the soy milk or lactaid . It seems that I can drink any milk right now. Also that Special K protein water is good I drink about 3 or 4 bottles a day of that. Some protein is better than no proein at all.My two friend that I met of here told me to go to the vit. shop they have a variety of things that I can chose from so that is where i'm going this afternoon. I just hopes time moves fast for us so we can get to the soft foods. Have a good day

The ones I loved before surgery were delicious, now it like drinking pancake syrup. Yuck! I got SmartForme Drink Mixes from my MD's office. You may have to order online if you can't find them locally. They have saved me. They are not thick or too sweet. I have four different flavors and they are all awesome. I don't get that protein smell, texture or taste like the others I've tried. I have even put two packs in one 8 oz glass of water when I needed to double up for the days quota.
I haven't tried the Profect yet (see advertisement on right column for link). I've heard they are a little sweet but you get 25 grams in just 3 oz. I believe I can manage three oz. even if it doesn't taste so good so I'm going to get it soon.
I agree on the vitamins, too. My surgeon recommended Flintstone chewable but I bought Sam's Club brand of children's chewable trying to save money (nutrition was identical per the labels) but they made me sick to my stomach. I tasted a fishy, nasty taste for hours and it kept me from wanting anything else. I switched to Centrum Childrens chewable and they are 100% better. Not great, but so much better. You may need to switch brands to find the one you like. Please try because they are so important to your health.
I also suggest you contact your NUT for advice if this continues. You can end up with a lot of health problems if you can't find something to work for you.
Best wishes to you. I sincerely hope it gets better for you.
