Things are moving fast!
Hi everyone. I just wanted to share how excited I am getting. Things are really moving fast for me with my journey. I was just told I have sleep apnea and I have my final stop at Dr. Fuzz nutritions Monday with Mary Martha and then I just wait! I am so excited now! Now I just pray the insurance approves me!
Hope your all having a great day!
Way to go, girlfriend! It won't be long now and then you will be eating SOUP with Betty and me! Have you gotten your c-pap, yet? I was one of the few that really liked sleeping with mine. Now that I've lost 48 lbs. it just doesn't work for me - I kept feeling like I was taking in too much air! I'll be praying that the rest of your process goes quickly. See you at support group on Thursday??
Hi. My first time posting but I have been visiting the site for quite sometime now. I am in the process of meeting with the different doctors and actually have my first appointment with the surgeons on April 2nd. Wow, that seems like a long way off but at least I have a date now. Anyway, I was all excited when I read your post because you mentioned a support group meeting. Can I ask please how I can get information about the group? I would love to attend but haven't been able to find any local groups...I am from Kernersville. Any info would be appreciated.
We're patients of Dr. Fuzz Fernandez at Baptist Hospital (he's the BEST!). We have support group on the last Thursday of every month at the Piedmont building on Miller Street. Dr. Fuzz and his whole team attend each meeting and are there to answer questions from both pre-op and post-op patients. I began going to these meetings back in February of last year and didn't have my surgery until Dec. 15th. I really attribute a lot of my WLS knowledge to what I learned at support group.
Good luck with your process!
Hey Cathy! I met with Fuzz yesterday for my consult and he said to expect surgery either in late April or early May!!! So I am really stoked right now too! He said that overall my health is fairly good and he doesn't think I will have any problems with the surgery. The only test that I have to do is the liver scan which will happen in about a week. I go for the psych consult on Tuesday and he told me to call Mary Martha on Monday to schedule my visit with her. I asked him about her taking so long to get her reports done and he told me that she has improved greatly in that area and that it shouldn't take her but a few weeks to get everything to them so that they can submit it to my insurance. Yippee!!!!
Good luck with your approval and I hope to see you on Thursday night!
Hugs,
Donna
Hi -
I'm seeing the group at Central Carolina Surgery in Greensboro, Dr. Benjamin Hoxworth is my Dr. So far, I've had all the preop testing(which so far looks good!) but 3 things, the second visit with the psych for my test results, a mammogram, and teaching (along with protein samples)with the Bariatric Liason from Wesley Long Hospital. I'm hoping to have a date in the next few weeks for surgery. I'm VERY EXCITED in getting on the loser's bench and although my wardrobe has always been decent, getting rid of my fat clothes. Not to mention, being able to do more stuff in Belly Dance class. My hubby had surgery with the same group in Sept 2005 and has lost 140lbs. I see how excited he gets about buying clothes now and it is inspiring. Not to mention, he was not the most outgoing person to begin with but this has made him come out of his shell.
Have a great long weekend (those who are fortunate enough to have it!)

Thanks for getting back with me. Took me a while to get back and read all this. I do remember Susan B. saying that the Support Group Meeting is for Dr. Fuzz's patients only. I don't know why. Donna that is great about all your meetings. I hope your right about the months for surgery. I was told last Monday with Mary Martha that it may be May or June because their are alot of people ahead of me waiting for their surgery. Keep me posted.
Cathy
