Hey! I am a 30 year old with a BMI of 53.2. :'( I have type 2 diabetes, PCOS, and have been trying for 10 years to have a baby. Yesterday my doctor referred me to Dr. Naziri for gastric bypass. He has tried before, but I was too afraid. I thought " I can do this on my own". But, after the 999th failed diet, I decided it is my only hope. I am a very happy person, but I want to loose my weight. Now that I have finally decided to do it, I am scared something will happen that will cause me not to be able to have the surgery done. The more I read your postings, the more excited I get.

Dear Stacy. Welcome to OH. I am 37 and I started at 334lbs. I had my surgery on June 14, 2006. I had a few complications in the begining because of scar tissue but presently I weigh 204. I am just right there at onerland. I can't wait to be out of the 200's. Anyway, I just wanted to say I know what it's like to be scared to do this and want to do it on your own but trust me when I say you have to put a lot of work into this tool that the surgery gives you and it's no short cut so don't feel like you have failed because you are thinking about RNY. It's the best thing I ever did for myself and I really know I made the right choice. I wish I had done it 10 years ago. Good luck on your Journey. Shannon

Congratulations on beginning your weigh loss journey. I wish you all the luck and blessings in your journey. One suggestion, reseach all aspects of any weight loss surgery until you begin to feel comforable with your choice. This is a very exciting time for you. If you get a chance read my profile. Again congratulations!!!!!

Hi Stacey- good luck on beginning your journey, i am pre-op too. I've done alot of research and all i can say is that you need to chose the right procedure for you, and the right doctor to support you, and you can do it! I have chosen to have the VSG (vertical sleeve gastrectomy) because it reduces the hunger hormone ghrelin, and I think for me that will be very important. No matter which procedure you choose, you should be comfortable with the guidelines and rules and understand as much as you can about it. It *is* a life-changing event, yet is is also only a tool that has to be paired with hard work to get the results that we read about here. good luck and welcome to the boards! Stefanie
