What to bring to the hospital?
Best wishes and prayers to you.
Mu surgery was on the 9th. I had a beautiful robe and gown that I never wore. The hospital gown worked best. Never felt like reading or watching T.V. Just rested and walked.
About that walking. It is the best thing you can do for yourself. The pain level was pretty high and getting out of bed was tough. When I got up I walked. It helped to relieve the pain. I walked in the middle of the night. The halls were long and great for walking.
So, this is very do-able. One month later I am thrilled with my progress.

THINGS TO BRING TO THE HOSP.
TOOTH BRUSH AND TOOTH PASTE.
HAIR BRUSH
SLIPPERS
DEODORANT
A BOOK OR MAGAZINE TO READ AFTER SURGERY.
A CHANGE OF UNDERWEAR
YOU DON'T REALLY NEED AN EXTRA SET OF CLOTHES, JUST WEAR SOMETHING VERY COMFORTABLE TO THE HOSP AND WEAR THE SAME HOME, HOW DIRTY ARE THEY GOING TO GET ON THE RIDE THERE.
AS FOR WHEN YOU GET HOME: DON'T GO OVER BOARD BUYING THINGS TO EAT AND DRINK AS YOU TASTE IS GOING TO CHANGE. WHAT YOU MAY HAVE LIKED AND/OR TOLERATED PRIOR TO SURGERY YOU MAY NOT LIKE AND/OR TOLERATE AFTER SURGERY. THIS GOES FOR PROTEIN SHAKES ALSO.
STOCK UP ON LOW SODIUM CHICKEN AND BEEF BROTH, CRYSTAL LIGHT, WALMART BRAND SUGAR FREE DRINKS (i like these better that crystal light)
AQUAFINA LEMON AND ORANGE FLAVORED WATER OR IS IT'S NESTLE'S? WHICH EVER, THEY'RE BOTH GOOD.
LOW FAT COTTAGE CHEESE, LOW FAT NO SUGAR ADDED YOGURT, YOU CAN ADD FROZEN FRUIT AND A PACKET OF SPLENDA.
I CAN GO ON AND ON, SO I WON'T
HOPE THIS HELPS

I would suggest taking anything that makes you feel good. Your own pillow and blanket, for example. For some reason, on the 2nd night I couldn't hold my bladder long enough to get to the bathroom (which does take awhile if you are hooked up to lots of stuff). I went through 5 pairs that night but then my bladder stabilized. I took a scarve to pretty up my bed head. Flavored lip balm is awesome until you can have those GLORIOUS ice chips. I took a rob and gown, too, but didn't use it. My leg compressions and IV fluids didn't stop until I was discharged. I took reading material but didn't read. I took DVDs but didn'****ch them. I took slip-on shoes for ease of putting them on. Have a phone list ready for your significant other to call when you come out of surgery. I wore home what I wore in. I could not have cared less about how I looked for the car ride!
God bless and best wishes for a complication free surgery!
