Hi Steph. and CONGRATS on your upcoming date! Godspeed for a quick recovery as you join the loser's bench. I, personally, like having a walkman when at the hospital- its great in pre-op to put on your fav. tunes and just zone out- makes waiting much more comfy! The headphones also can be great post-op to drainout others....moaning patients, beeping iv's- you get the picture. For shoes- easy to slip on flops or slipper with grippy soles make walking easier. Also may want warm socks for your toes. Good liuck! She.

The hospital gave me nonslip socks to wear in the halls. My mom is a nurse and said to not bring anything to walk around in unless you want to get rid of it.... she said to just stick to socks or cheap slippers and throw them away unless you can wash them in bleach! yuck I think you pretty much have it covered... you said personal care items... of those here is what I was glad to have - lotion, face cloths, deodrant. Make sure you have some draw string/elastic pants to wear home too. As for pjs, unless you are wearing those home you wont need them since you get to wear that sexy hospital gown and will have drain tubes (mine leaked all over once, it was nasty!). My nurse was super nice and gave me an extra gown to wear as a bathrobe so my booty wasnt hanging out in the halls!

What I needed most: That body pillow. (great for holding to your tummy. Hospital gown (and the extra one for a robe) Tennis shoes and socks for walking. (I needed the grip for those slippery floors, the hospital socks work good but work like dustloths on the floors) The hospital did not furnish kleenex and I wanted some often. (had to use toilet tissue) Didn't feel like reading or watching TV. Just read and walked. WALK and walk often. It helps. God bless. Diane
