What to do about slack office staff in surgeon's office

I'm sooo upset with my doctor's office right now, that I can't even see straight! I have done all of my pre-op paper work and medical test and was done on January 8th with every thing in order to have it submitted to the insurance company. I sent e-mails and called for updates and was told to "get back with me" and was given a date to call, well followed up with no response, called today (01-22-07) and was asked did I do every thing (third time telling her that I had) and was told that the nutritionist is on her honeymoon this week and the fitness consultant is out in California filming an exercise video and that she can't submit any thing to until they get back, they had NOT ONE BUT TWO WEEKS before they left to give her the information and she knew they were leaving. Wouldn't you make sure that if two people where going to be out and they are the major part of the process that you would get that information from them BEFORE they left. Now I have to wait until next Tuesday (01-30-07) or Wednesday (01-31-07)of next week for her to get it from them and then submit those items to the insurance company. That means in essence probably another three weeks until I get a submittal!!! What makes me so upset about it, is that I was one of those people that did every thing by the book and did every thing that I was asked of me, I didn't cut corners or any thing. Has this happened to any one else? What would you do in this situation??

What do you do FIRE them. I had the same problems when I was using that office,( or at least I think that was the folks that are in Presby hospital ) my surgeron left them and BOY O BOY things changed fast. I had the same issue they did not have a clue , lost my test etc............... Call Dr Melkonian or Dr Lowe or someone else, they can have your paper work ( IF FOUND ) transfered. Remember , if they work slow like this now how will they be once you have surgery, will they be able to answer your questions etc.... I feel your pain, I have been there. Let us know how things are going.

I know that can be very discouraging. I went in for my first visit 10/25/06 and I had all of my tests and paperwork done prior to the visit. I emailed 2 weeks after submitting everything and was told I was still in dictation. I then emailed again the next 2 weeks and never got a response. This was around Thanksgiving so the Monday after Thanksgiving I called them and was told that I was missing my EKG. I told her that it should be there because I had my PCP fax it over on 10/25/06 and that I had called and verified it had been received. So then I was on the fast track from there. I went through medical/surgical review and then off to insurance and approval for surgery within the next 3 weeks. I just had my surgery 1/9/07. I know that waiting and people not doing their part is discouraging but keep your head up and things will get better. Amanda Stone-Secrest
