Oh boy, I'm so totally excited about this. I don't know how soon this is going to happen, I just found out I had been approved but now I am waiting on my surgery date. I am experiencing such a huge roller coaster of emotions right now but I keep reading the boards and trying to connect with people that are where I am or where I'm going, or where I have been. Currently I am 37 years old, 5'9 and I weigh 272 pounds. I'm having surgery at Durham Regional (hopefully soon) through Duke WLS. I am married and have a beautiful 10 year daughter and two great stepsons. My wonderful and extremely patient husband is 100% behind this but he doesn't understand when I talk about "head hunger" and my worries, other then I might die, etc. Would anyone like to "be friends". I feel like a little girl in school asking if "you will be my friend". Anyone need a friend?

Hi Leigh, I'm Sheila, live in Wilm, age 43yo, 5'9" and highest wt was 242 ( today at 234). I see Dr Bauman in Concord and I am waiting to recieve my date for lap band surgery. I am a selfpay, so I dont have to jump through the insurance hoops. There appears to be little to no folks in the Wilm. area on OH blogs- I'd love to walk this journey with you and join you on the losing side. My family and boyfriend are all very supportive, but only us WLS candidates will know the joys of clear liquids/full liquids/mushies/ PB's, etc. I am hoping to have a date within the next 2 weeks, with hopefully surgery by the end of Feb. ( have a mammo tomorrow and nut. appt next week and that will wrap up all the pre-op requirements). Hope to TTYS, Congrats on approval and I look forward to hearing when you GET A DATE!!!Sheila

can never have enough friends Leigh. I know how you are feeling I can remember when I first received my letter from BCBS that I had been approved for surgery, I didn't even known my surgeons office had submitted me for approval yet. Oh I had sooo many emotions going. I was scheduled for surger originally for tomorrow, then I was moved up to today, now I'm scheduled for Thursday.....this has been a roller coster for me, but I know when I make it to the finish line it will be great. There are a lot of emotions/feelings though I still feel so I'll kinda be glad to get the surgery over with, to get that part behind me....

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is so exciting. The day I got my approval letter I was walking around on clouds and jumping for joy! My surgery date in just 12 days away. I had my pre-op visit at the hospital today. I have not had one minute of second guessing this decision. Although I'm not physically near you (I'm in Charlotte), I'd love to be your friend. Best wishes!

Thanks to everyone who posted here and in my profile. Wow I feel loved now. Trying to get my work done. Tomorrow I have an appointment to met with Dr. DeMaria and go over the surgery with him and then Monday I have appointments with Nutritionist and Psych and then with the anesthesist that afternoon, then home for prep and then surgery on Tuesday. Wow. OK, where did I put that to do list? Thanks again guys. I got friends!!!!!!!!
