Support Groups in Charlotte?

Hello! I just wanted to know if there is support group for wls in charlotte? I have heard people talk about the surrounding areas but never charlotte? I had surgery in Hendersonville, NC and they have an awesome group but I can't travel 2.5 hours every month to go thoes meetings so I'm hoping to find something closer. I'll be a year out tomorrow and really want to find a group to be apart of! Thanks, Kay

I live in Unionville (near Indian Trail) and am interested in getting a support group together around this area. A few people have mentioned it and I think some may be working on arranging it. ...Jill

I was thinking of starting one in Unionville or Monroe area. I know there is a support group that meets at the presby main hospital but for me at least, that is a pretty long drive. I am going to call the community center in Unionville and see if we can start something there. Would you be interested? Kristi

If it's not too far, I would be interested. I wonder if the presby main group is for people that only had wls at presby?? If you start working on something let me know so I can figure out how far I am from Monroe. Thanks, Kay

Presbyterian Hospital holds one I think the 3rd monday of each month Southeast Bariatrics holds one the 2nd monday of each month. (at the Cornwell Center 2001 Selwyn Ave, accross from Queen's college.) CMC Mercy holds one. Not sure when or where it's held. I know there is one out off Johnston Rd in S Charlotte. I think it's at Earth Fare, I could be wrong on that one. Good luck in your search. I think at least one fo these would been good for you and offer you the support that all of WLS patients need. Kim

The support group @ Mercy meets on the 3rd tuesday of the month (tentative) in the auditorium. I also attend the "Thru thick and thin support group here in charlotte, they have a page on the Black American Forum here on Obesity website.

The earthfare support group is on Tuesday the 16th this month... 3rd Tuesday of every month at 630. I go to the Presby Support Group which is tonite at 630. I really enjoy the Presby Group and the people who run it are GREAT!

Aww, I hate I missed the Presby group tonight. I had to go out of town for my 1 year check-up so I'm just getting home. Can anyone come to the Presby group? I didn't have surgery through Presby. Have you ever been to the one at Earthfare? I'm gonna try and make that one tomorrow. Thanks for the info, Kay
