It's driving me crazy. Honestly I have the thickest head of hair you have ever seen really. If I let it it grow longer than my collar then I have headaches it's so think so loosing some of it really doesn't bother me BUT...there is hair everywhere..on my clothes, my furniture, and I had to go get drain cleaner for my shower drain yesterday. I am so happy to have had this surgery and was trilled to death yesterday when I bought a new shirt and realized I had gone from a 26 to a 14!!! A 14!! I have been in a 14 since high school so there is nothing I can complain about regarding the side effects but my question to you guys is isn't there an additional supplement that some take to help with hair loss? Any suggestions? Thanks, Shannon in NC! GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Biotin is what the supplement is. School's out on whether or not it actually helps, but some swear by it. I take a "hair, skin, and nails" vitamin that I get from our local health food store. Purvana is the brand name, but there are many brands that make this. I just started though, so I can't tell you yet if it works. I am pre-op, but I'm as interested in my nails as my hair. ~Ellen

Hey Shannon, I am 4 months out and started taking Biotin a month before my surgery and started taking Zinc about a month ago and I have not experienced any hair loss, as a matter of fact I have experienced hair growth. My stylist is so happy at how healthy my hair is.

Hi Shannon - I'm Beth, my husband Dean had his RNY a year ago in September. He started losing his hair and thanks to a woman (whose hubby worked with my hubby) that had the Mini at High Point Regional hospital, he read their patient book regarding vitamins and they recommended extra iron & B12 because he was also having trouble controlling his body temp AND losing his hair. I can understand the Zinc, silica & biotin too though. If you aren't already supplementing like this, you may want to give it a try. And I'm getting ready to turn in my paperwork and hope to have it done sometime this spring. Good luck!! Beth
