Ok..so I might be out of place.
So, I'm not too sure if I'm in the right place or not. My name is Holly and I have not had bypass surgery..I lost my weight through Weigh****chers and am currently down from 332.2 to 184.8lbs...I've noticed that I have alot of lose skin, especially in my abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, and under my upper arms. Has anyone ever known of someone to get insurance to pay for body reconstruction if they have not had weight loss surgery?
Hi Holly. Congratulations on your weight loss! I am impressed, losing that much weight is challenging. I am not sure about your insurance question, mostly that will depend on your policy. The thing I read over and over again, though, is that the key is to document every little detail. If you are getting rashes in the folds of your skin, take pictures. Keep a journal, document every thing that happens that is a concern with your extra skin. The thing is that you and your doctor will have to make a case for the insurance company that it is medically necessary. Take care and keep us posted.

Typically what the insurance will cover is a panni (partial tummy tuck) and maybe arms... I havent heard of much beyond that. First I would make sure you have the benefit because many do not. Having weight loss surgery wouldnt matter for the approval... they are more concerned with the medical reasons why you need to have the skin removed.
