Insurance Exclusions

Has anyone around here had any luck with insurance exclusions and CIGNA insurance? My company is changing to Blue Cross in 2007...with exclusion again. Should I wait to try to deal with Blue Cross or should I keep going and try to appeal through CIGNA. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

If it is a fully funded policy you have little to no chance... if its ASO funded then appeal away. If ASO funded your employer could let you have the surgery... you may want to talk to them... if the BCBS is going to be ASO ask them if they could add the benefit to the policy... if they wont ask again if they will allow you to have the procedure. Eitherway you may want to contact the NCDOI and see if they can give you further direction. I know BCBS is "revamping" their authorization policy sometime this month for WLS as well!
