HEEELLLPPPP!! Has anyone ever felt this way?
I was at the beach this past weekend and didn't eat very much at all. Well on the way home, I ate a whole fish sandwich from MCDs. before I noticed it. I feel like Im not getting full like I use to and I can eat and drink alot more at one time then I use to. Especially water. Usually I can SIP on a little water at a time, but now its like I can drink like I use to. Why would I all of a sudden be this way? I haven't ate more then normal, less if anything so I don't see how my pouch could be stretched. Has anyone else had this happened or is there an explanation that anyone has heard of? I am TOTALLY stressing and scared that Im going to eat to much because I don't have that full feeling after 2 or 3 bites. Whats the rule on drinking alcohol? I had a couple of sips of margaretias but it was only a couple like 3 or 4 maybe.
Thanks,
Lisa

We went to the beach this past weekend too, I found that eating was very stressful.
I can feel full and notice with more solid foods, then liquids. My two ideas could be that your dehydrated so you need more water then normal, or two, you just could be a one time thing. Around 8 weeks post op I felt like I could consume more then I did during the 6 week post op period, it could be the swelling has lessened. I'm not sure of any one theory.
Sometimes, I can eat and feel like i'm eating too much and other times I am full after a couple bites. Our days will vary. I drink alot of water, I used to gulp it before surgery and now I still forget to sip sometimes. MY pouch let's me know it's still there.
I don't drink alcohol so I cannot advise on that but liquids do move through the pouch more rapidly then the solids. Can you eat breads? I cannot get them down, they make me feel sick righ off the bat, so I usually eat the meat and cheese, from my sandwiches only. I always get alot of questions and curious stares from waitresses.
Good Luck,
Jennifer
Thanks Jennifer! I hope it is just the swelling went down. Would it take this long though? I was wondering if it was just because I didn't eat or drink hardly anything and my body was just trying to catch up again. I was having a very hard time with water, but the last day or so, I have been able to drink it and lots of it with ease. Breads don't do go for me either, some easier then others, but I try not to eat them at all. Im always scared Im going to fail after all this.
Thanks for input!!!
hey, i'm 9 months out and i drink a few sips of marg. ever now and then.i ask them to water them down because the mix has alot of sugar also you gotta be careful because alcohol affects us different because of the surgery it doesnt take as much to get you tipsy i can only drink like az hazlf of one and with the food i think its according to what kind of food it is with me i can eat half a bagel and feel full but with liquids i can hold more i seriously doubt you have stretched your pouch hope this helps.Glenda
I was reading over some information I had printed out from the net last nite. One thing I read was that after about 6 months or so we should be able to drink 1 cup of liquids at a time and it not be an issue. I was talking to my friend who is 4 years out yesterday... we have the same surgeon and she and I were discussing goals. She said his goal for her was to eat a bowl of soup and half a sandwich and feel satisified. I wouldnt really feel too nervous. I wouldnt focus too much on feeling full after only 2 or 3 bites but more of what you are eating. I also read that heavier foods sit in the stomach longer than light foods so you feel fuller faster as well as longer. If you didnt eat much over the trip - maybe you didnt eat enough and thats why ate the whole sandwich? As for alcohol all surgeons are different - some say 6 months, some say a year some say never again. Jus****ch out for the high sugar high calorie drinks (like margaritas).
