Personal goal weight question
Im hoping to get approval for RNY next month. I am guessing but if all goes well I could be having the surgery maybe by mid August.
My current BMI is 48.9. I currently weigh 341 pounds give or take. In the surgical consult my surgeon set a goal weight of 214 for me. Do the guys have any trouble meeting this goal? I would like to lose even more. With my frame I think I could lose to 160 to 170 easily. Is this too much to ask for?
I used to try Atkins and lost a lot of weight with it when I was younger. I know what I look like as an adult at 170 pounds and I would love to look like that again.
ok---now what your doc gave you was the weight at which weightloss surgery would be succesfull for just having the surgery itself---there are those that say losing 60-65 % of the excess weight is sucessful--which in light is--however--the majority of pateints want to lose more--if not 100% --isn't that correct---Well--with that being said--
I started at 338.5 and was told that 210 might be it for me--I was depressed cause I didn't know that I could exceed those expectations but I sure wanted to--but as far as the clinic was concerned--at that weight --I was considered successful! When I hit that weight--it was emotional--wondering if I would go below it----I stuck there---I think the stress of it all did it!--and then came on down weight wise---!
I am now 169--still losing but slower---and esctatic I went below that 60-65% weight loss--I am more like 89% excess weight gone--and yes--I am shooting for 95% ---Just take it one day at a time--and it will all happen! Follow the rules! And happy losing!
