2 questions from a post op-
My new stomach feels...different. Obviously it is, I know. I don't know how to describe it, other than it feels like it is always on the verge of being upset. Like it is teetering back and forth. Does that make any sense? Is this normal? Does it go away?
How come NOTHING tastes normal? I mean absolutely nothing I eat tastes the same. I know people said things I used to like, I no longer will, and I will start eating things I didn't before, but I mean literally I haven't found anything that tastes the same, even though I prepare it the exact same way.

Hi SuSu,
I wanted to comment on your question, I will be 8 weeks post op tomorrow. I felt like I had a lump on my throat after surgery, it felt like everything was at the bottom of my throat. Ofcourse, at the end of the espogus is my pouch. I do feel sick on my stomach sometimes, I tend to feel it when I've eating the second portion of something I"ve divided in half. I don't know if my body doesn't want anymore or if I simple mentally have had enough of that food.
I loved breads and baked goods, now I cannot tolerate bread at all. This is great for me since It makes me sick I won't eat it. ANytime I'm eating and start to feel sick, I stop. I am not sure if that's the right thing or not, but i Hate to feel bloated and sick. I've had a few episodes from eating a small amount of carbs and throwing up.
As for nothing tasting normal, everythings been delicious after surgery except the diet drinks. I don't like aspartme or splenda. SO, I drink decaf unsweet iced tea (made at home) and H2O, nothing else. I know this drinking is hard but I want the whole thing or nothing. I can really live without the sugar free stuff.
Here's a couple of funny things about my post op -
I hear my stomach talking all the time, I don't know if it's air passing through or digestion, this is confirmation that everything is working.
I have different bathroom habits now.
My feet have been hurting. I haven't found validation that this is wls related but I think it is.
I hope this helped, although I didn't directly answer your question.

Hey Susu, I'm 9 weeks post op and things have changed inside. It really does get bette with time. I felt the same way up until very recently. It all stopped when I decided to stop fighting the pouch and let it rule. I listen to what it tells me. I eat only pouch friendly food, if I feel full I stop eating, if something gets stuck or upsets my stomach, I let myself throw up. One of the hardest things I've had to do is take small, small bites and chew them really well. This has helped me so much. I don't get sick much any more. I even had some grilled chicken this weekend, not much, I'm still afraid of chichen, but I ate tiny peices and chewed really well. I try to get my protien in above all. And when they say sip, sip, sip. Well I found out the hard way there's a reason. Our stomachs can't handle fluids well, it goes right through us, so that's why we have to sip all day long. I was getting dehydrated and having black out spells and heacaches. So becareful this summer in the sun and heat. I hope this helped. Take Care, Sandi
