new to everything
Hi all...
Just found this message board, got approved for surgery, had surgery and now recovering all in about a two week period. Wow....things have been moving very fast.
I think I've been doing well since my surgery on the 28th of March. Haven't really gotten sick (nauseated yes, vomiting no). I'm still just a little sore so feel like I'm doing ok in that department too. I do feel sorry for myself sometimes and feel like I'm being deprived of food....couldn't eat it if I wanted to, but it's just the thought I guess.
Is all of this normal??? I feel like I should be doing so much more and feeling so much better, but then I stop and say that it's only been about 8-9 days...what do I expect!?!?!
Any thoughts to help me through?? Anything will be appreciated.
Carol
Welcome Carol,
Everything you have said is normal. I miss food so much at times I could cry, but I know I will be so much better in the long run.
You are only 9 days out, you should still be a little sore, that also is normal, Just hang in there. Walk Walk Walk , and sip sip sip, you will feel better in no time at all
Take Care
My appt. was at 1:30, but I didn't get in until much later. My appointment with my PCP is at 1:30 today. They drew my blood this morning. I have an appointment with Dr. Patel, pulmonologist, at 9:00 a.m. on May 1st. I'll keep you posted! I'd love to be your support and vice-versa! I live in Florence by the way!
We definitely need to get together.... we are too close to each other to not meet and visit! We also need to start going to the CMMC Support Group Meetings together, I have not been to one yet, but I plan to go next month! I just saw a friend of mine that had surgery with Dr. Cleveland three months ago, and he is doing so well. He said we definitely need to go to the meetings......
Hope to meet you soon!
Marci
Hey girl!
Email one of the Html help people here at: [email protected]
and they can help you spruce up your profile page.
I have a list of "Things for the Hospital" but it is at work. I will try to remember to email it to you first thing tomorrow!
CMMC has their support meetings the second Tuesday of each month, the next one should be May 9th.
I have a binder full of info that I have collected over the past two years on this surgery and other wonderful tips and suggestions. I will make some copies for you tomorrow and scan them so that I can email the good stuff to you tomorrow as well!
Love,
Marci
Sounds very common. Maybe you are feeling a little more overwhelmed because things happened so fast. Most of us had to wait several months before actually getting to have the surgery after we were approved. Remember to take it slow and one day at a time. It will get better. You will prob. have many moments where you think, what have I done. Hang in there. You should start to feel more like your self in a week or two. The more you move around the quicker you will feel better. Just remember you limitations. God bless. Angie
GOSH, things really moved FAST for you. Congratulations.... Sounds like you are doing really well. Did you even have time to do your research on WLS? I've got several friends that have had surgery and they all say the first couple of weeks they were filled with "Why did I do this" "OMG what was I thinking".... But they said the first 3 weeks is the hardest. Then once you get through the first 3 months things really improve alot and after 9 months things are pretty settled and you have pretty much learned your new body and you have learned your new tummy and established your new eating habits. They do say WLS is no cure for head hungry. You still have craving and desires, but you just have to replace eating with something else like exercise or protein shakes. You will do GREAT and I hope you continue to do better each and every day. Remember to walk ALOT, and sip. Get your protein in first and make sure your are taking your vitamins.
I am awaiting surgery myself. My insurance is pending. I go back next Thursday for my last appt's and then they will resubmit my paperwork to my insurance company. I can't wait!!!!! Best of Luck. Say alittle prayer for me too. Thanks!
Hey Carol, I'm 8 weeks post op and I think I've gone through every feeling that one can have. Its totally normal, you are going through an adjustment period. The surgery itself was a major surgery, having to change your eating habits and learn new ones, letting go of our old comforts....Hmmmmmmmm. yea, you're normal. It does get better and better. Especially when you hit that first milestone. For me, it was getting under 200 lbs...I think you are doing great....Keep up the good work....We're here if you need us.... Sandi
