I hope you're all out enjoying the beautiful weather we've been having!!! I took a peek a couple of times today at the board and everybody must have been outside getting some fresh air. I'm doing good...almost two weeks post-op and down about 12 pounds since I came home (that includes the three pounds I gained in the hospital). I'm getting my protein and water in but I am only getting about 300 to 400 calories per day which is so weird because I have a good amount of energy. I've not had any pain and I feel very lucky that all is going so good so far. I did feel really sluggish today, but I think it is possible I am going through the first couple of days of ketosis. I remember this drained feeling from when I was on the Atkins diet. I hope that's what it is because I know it will go away in a couple of days. I bought some ketostix just to see if that is what it is. Let's post how we're all doing...It's hard to keep up

Hi Jamey, My surgery was March 8 so that's 3 1/2 weeks out. I'm on finely cut up foods that I am sure to chew minimum of 30 times. Can't handle eggs - tried them a few times -- scambled hard to digest, poached (which was my favorite) just isn't the same without buttered toast underneath it) and they don't set well or make me gag. So for now they are only an ingredient. Going very light on veggies - mainly stamed zucchini. Lots of soup still with AnyWhey mixed in and/or low-fat yogurt or light sour cream (20 cal in a T.) I'm going to make some turkey meatballs tonight and probably freeze most in single servings. I go back to work this week and want to have home made tv dinners ready to go. I'm still quite uncomfortable on my left side and can't roll onto that side yet. The last few days I have been doing more shakes and pudding and soups since I had a problem with what felt like my pouch wasn't emptying and the doctor checked me out and said everything was OK. Everything is still so new and still healing that it will likely pass. I have plenty of instructions as to what to look for if it was or got more serious. I'm doing good getting in my water -- love the Tropicana sf Orangeade bu****er and ice is really my favorite. And the Crush and Root Beer ice pops in the pack with Dr. Pepper. Don't care much for that one. But I can't tell it from Root Beer when holding the package up to the light. My toughest thing is to get going physically. I couldn't start the gym Monday because I went into a full-blown gout attack in my foot Sunday. It was feeling better by Wed. but that is the day I was sick on my stomach, so I'm planning to join Curves in the next few days. Have to find out how much membership is and check my checkbook. If not then, I'll join on Payday. That's about everything I can really think of. I've lost 36 pounds and want to lost another 117 pounds. I want to get down to 130. Take care, Maureen PS If I think of anything else of significance I'll drop another note.

Hey Jamey! I was thinking about you this week. I hope work wasn't too brutal on you! I'm doing better every day! I am getting alot of walking in and can feel my energy increasing. I found two different types of protein drinks that have actually become quite tasty--and I look forward to them. I start every morning with a Proscore 100 chocolate drink that gives me 32 grams of protein--I mix it with 8 oz of cold water and blend it VERY well--it tastes very, very similar to chocolate milk. And then in the afternoon or evening I hand stir a Nectar Lemonade protein drink with 14 oz of water--which gives me 23 grams of protein. In between those I am eating cottage cheese, yogurt, mozzarella, 2% shredded colby & jack, spagghetti (carb options) sauce, ricotta cheese, jello, peanut butter, Wendy's chili, pintos with salsa, finely blended tuna salad and chicken salad. It's starting to get fun inventing new meals! My nutrionist said if you feel like you are ketotic--then eat 1 tablespoon of peanut butter with 2 to 4 oz of skim milk. The two together take that "yucky" feeling away. I tried it--and it really does! I've lost about 22 pounds so far, I think....I'm not really trying to keep up with it until after my first post op Doc visit which is next week. That's not counting the 6 extra pounds I gained in the hospital. They kept my IV fluids going at a high rate because my urine output was low to begin with. Talk about bloated! That is all better now, thank goodness! I'm so glad we both have bounced back from surgery so well. I'll keep you in my prayers forever because you will always be my twin at rebirth into this new life! Love, Tamara

Wow...we are doing good!...so glad to hear it I got my ketostix and they turned the darkest color purple which is probably why I was feeling so tired today. I did get some egg drop soup tonight for the first time and it was wonderful. I looked it up on the internet and it isn't too bad calorie wise...81 calories per serving and about 8 grams of protein. I think that serving is 1/2 cup and I ate mine really slow and finished about a cup. I also found some "Body for Life" snack crisps at the Vitamine Shoppe last night on clearance....6 1.73 ounce bags in a box for $2...I couldn't finish a bad so I spent some time dividing the bags into two servings in ziploc bags tonight....if you have time to go by there, pick them up...can't beat that deal!!! (they taste like chex mix with just the chex and flavor...bbq, nacho cheese, and ranch I believe.)

Hey Misty, I guess I'm an old timer, I'm 8 weeks post op.... I've lost 45 lbs. I'm doing well, still can't handle chicken or fish, but for some strange reason, my pouchy likes steak... I'm getting about 600 to 700 cals a day, most of my protein. I feel really good, all but my foot, which I'm having surgery on May 2, and then will be laided up for about 4 mths, until I get to walk again, if all goes well...So hopefully I'll still loose weight...Which makes me worry that I won't because I won't be getting any exercise in....You know all the silly fears popping in my head...You all sound like you are doing well...I'm so glad. Please all take care and keep in touch.... Sandi
