I just found out that BCBS has denied my claim for gastric bypass based on not being morbidly obese for 5 years. I am going to appeal as I have been what they consider morbidly obese for 4 of the 5 years and obese for one year. Has anyone else had this happen and successfully appeal?
I'm sorry about your denial, Paige. I have not had to appeal to them, but I have heard a lot of folks make the suggestion of having your doctor confernce call them for a "peer discussion" for other issues. It might help and it cant hurt.

Tiger 51 - I too have been denied by BCBS and have appealed. I sent my appeal in last Friday but have not heard anything yet. They stated it could take up to 30 days to receive answer on appeal. Good luck with your appeal. Donna
Thank you for responding, please keep me updated on your situation. I will be sending my appeal in by fax hopefully next Friday. I am waiting on a doctor's letter.
