Now comes the waiting...
I can't believe what I found out today. I found out that all of my info has been faxed to BCBS as of yesterday. I went in to Dr. Classen's office today to make sure that all of my test and appt's has made it back. Well I was freaked out when Donna told me it was already faxed off and BCBS had already requested another weight. Thankfully I have proof going back to 1996 of my weight. I wasn't sure though if I had missed any years in between. There was a couple of years when I didn't really go to the doctor at all. I'm glad I went down to the health dept for shots cause they kept a record of my weights too. Now it's just a waiting game. I am soo scared I am going to be turned down. I have a high BMI because I am 4'11 and weigh 246lbs. I am diabetic and have joint pain but I don't have high blood pressure and my sleep is normal. I'm praying. I just hope that they let the doctors office know quickly so I can sleep again LOL. I already dancing in my pants here. This whole process has been very fast compared to many patients. I started in feb and here I am waiting for a yes or no in almost april. Here's me crossing my fingers.
Christina: I wish you all the luck in the world. I am sure since your BMI is over 40 for the past five years you will be approved without any problem. If your BMI is over 40 you are supposed to be approved with BCBS even with no co-morbilities if everything else is in order - psychiatric evaluation, tyroid testing normal, nutritionalist class, etc. And with Village Surgical they know what is needed from BCBS. I too am waiting yet again because I was denied the first time. However, I have appealed and hoping it will be approval next time. I unlike you have not had the BMI of 40 or greater so with my BMI it is a little tougher to get approval. GOOD LUCK and my fingers are crossed now for both of us.
Thanks for the vote. I didn't know that about BCBS. I have BCBS blue care through my work. I'm sorry to hear that you were denied. I don't know how high your BMI is but from what I hear from others that BCBS wants a BMI of at least 40 for 5 years. I hope that BCBS wanting the weights from 2003 was a good sign and that's all that they needed. I will be praying for you as well.
