Hi there. Congrats to all that are having surgery now. I am anxiously waiting the day that I have it. I just finished all my tests that I have to take. I am handing in my packet hopefully next wk. Im almost finished gathering the test results and the last of my medical records that I will need. If you dont know, I am having it done in Moore Co. with Dr Washington. I live in Pitt Co, though. I have family in Sanford that is willing to help take care of me. The reason for that is that I am on Medicaid. I was wondering if anyone out there is on Medicaid and doing the same thing I am, or have already had surgery. I would love to know how long it took you to get approved and to have surgery. I would love to have it early Aug. I talked w/Medicaid office out of Raleigh. They said, if nothing went wrong, >30 days. That would be great. I have talked w/several people in the Bariatric ctr at moore co. hospital. Very friendly people. They are saying about the same thing. Please let me know. I am ready to do this thang!! Angela D.

I do the insurance filing for our office....Medicaid is pretty quick, depending on how busy they are. Just make sure you have everything...the 6 month diet is the most important...they will deny you if you don't have it. Good Luck...if you supply everything you should get approved!!!!

I had surgery with Dr. Mitchell. He is patners with Dr Washington. Dr Washington was the one *****leased me from hospital. He is really nice. And there practice is top notch. I know someone who got surgery quickly. She had back problems. Someone without co-morbidities had to do a supervised diet. Belinda

Hi people!. I went to a seminar in Pitt Co. tonite.. Boy I am soo confused about this Medicaid. I was not alone. I am planning to have surgery in Moore Co. w/Dr. Washington. Thanks for the good news about him. I was told tonite by an insurance specialists that Medicaid NC has several different things that takes to get covered for it. I know that. Then she said that I have to go thru a 6 month diet plan. When I talked to Medicaid last month, they DID NOT mention that.!! They didnt mention that in the packet I got from the seminar in Moore Co. Is there anyone out there that can help me get thru this distressing problem. I DO NOT WANT TO WAIT 6 months. I sure would appreciate it. And I see, Belinda, that you had a friend that had back problems and got surgery quickly. Did you/your friend have medicaid? If so, please tell me what you went thru and how long it took after paperwork went thru. Thanks for everyones help A

aShe does have medicaid. But Dr. Mitchell/Washington did not take Medicaid at the time of her surgery. I'm not sure who she used. That may make a difference This is a person I know as an aquaintance only so I can not ask her any question nor do I know how to contact her. But I do know she had much documentation of back pain and I think arhritis. She has had several rounds of Physical Therapy as well. I think length of time will depend on what kind of medical documentation you have. I don't have medicaid so I'm not sure what the process is. Call or email Eve (DR Washingtons secratary). Her info should be in the packet you received. I think she is out of the office until 7/3 (per a friend that got an out of office reply to her email today) Hope this helps. Belinda
