And the fight begins!
I finally received the denial letter from my insurance company. WLS is an exlusion, along with most things, of my policy. I have my PCP writing the medical necessity letter, but have little hope that will change things. It is frustrating because I could already be scheduled surgery next month if they would have approved me or I had the money to pay out of pocket. I read other posts from OH members, so I know I am not the only person to have to fight the insurance company. It is everyone's success stories that help keep me motivated. Being overweight for the past 20 years of my life, I have learned how to fight other's biases. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Kelli, I don't know that much about your personal situation with your insurance. But, I do know a girl whose insurance also excluded WLS. She got an advocate to help her fight and managed to get her WLS approved somehow. Its normally the decision of your individual employer to include certain coverages and in her case, the employer opted to not include WLS in their policy. She had her surgery and it was covered, so I'd be on the phone finding out what my options are. Don't give up until you have tried everything! Good luck.

Never give up---Same here a no holds exlusion--mine was unbreakable---Yours might be--but if not---I went through Vocational Rehab===and they paid a good portion of the surgery===I had to pay a portion also but it was NOTHING compared to full price--!
151 lbs lighter--and still going--it was worth it all!
Best wishes!
