Well Guys I Finally Made IT Home
I came home today after surgery on Thursday. Dr. Lowe said that my surgery went well. It lasted for 2 1/2 hours. I had a barium swallow done to check for leaks and it was awful. I had so much gas and bloating.Well I thank the Lord that I made it through and I hope he continues to keep blessing me. The drainage tube hurt so bad being pulled out that I thought I went into shock. Talk to you guys later
Shawnteria,
Can you believe it -- you are home from having bypass surgery -- it already happened and just days ago it seemed so far off, didn't it?
My surgery was done March 8 and I find my belly still swollen and sore but there is definitely improvement each day.
Remember to drink your water. Also, I found a sugar free drink that I really love. You may have tried it but if not, it's very pleasant. It's Tropicana Sugar Free Orangeade and I found it in the soda section at WalMart.
I agree about the barium swallow .. it's not as if you're not feeling bad enough to be taken to another floor in a wheelchair that hits every bump it can find and then stand up straight and swallow some radioactive swill. That couldn't have been over soon enough.
And the drainage tube -- I didn't find hurt so much as it was so weird to feel that tube wriggling through your belly
I hope that each day brings you closer to your dream.
Many blessings,
Maureen McGee

Good Evening...........
Yes it is late lol. I had been on my feet all day cleaning house then took three of my kids to a local car show boy was it chilly and windy then it started rainining but we still had a nice time.
Perry ty for all your kind words....... I giggled at being called a teenager........ I am 35 sweety...... but you can call me one any day of the week wohoooooo..........
I know exactly what everyone means about food and being able to eat certain things.I find that shrimp settles with me I can eat about 3 of them and some steamed mixed veggies(brocoli, carrots, cauliflower) I feel like many that you live off what works and venture to new foods slowly.
The blue bunny carb freedom yogurt is a lifesaver as is skim milk for me.
I love the land o lakes reduced fat cheese squares individually wrapped.
I have not tried protien in Crystal light yet. I guess I need to try that. I just do not want something that is nasty and going to make me gag......Any suggestions on what flavor works best with it?
Maureen I will have to agree with you that the tube being pulled out does feel a bit strange. Like they are pulling your insides out. My nurse was very good and was not scared like I have heard some nurses can get with the pull stop pull she just pulled at a steady rate til it was out.
I was sore on my left side for about a month. That is gone now.
I hope everyone rests well tonight........
Hugs
Charla
Congrats Shawnteria...so good to hear you're home!!! I didn't have to have the leak test thank goodness...can't imagine anything good about that!...I was expecting horror when the tube was pulled out, but I had a great nurse who, even very young, was confident and pleasant and did it steady and it was over before I knew it...I wouldn't say it hurt...it was just the weirdest thing I've ever felt...like a worm was slithering through my belly...yuck...

Hello Shawnteria,
Glad you are home
I agree the tube coming out hurt me YIKES.
I like Misty did not do the leak test, I do wonder why some doc's do and other don't ?
Everyday , I feel better, and I have added some soft foods without any problems. Today I had a small amount of watermelon yummy also some crab meat.
Take care,
Allison
