FEELING LIKE THIS ISN'T GOING TO WORK FOR ME!!
I had my RNY 5-19-06, so I'm a little over 3 weeks out. At 10 days I had lost 13 pounds! I was like WOW! Well i weighed today and i've only lost a total of 19 lbs. I started at 229 and i'm at 210! I thought i would have lost more than this! Is this normal? i mean i'm happy, but i'm so afraid that this is not going to work for me. nothing ever has.
Hi Deborah,
This is normal the have a stall at about 3-4 weeks out. I did the same thing. I did the same thing you did. There is a forum called weight loss light weights, it is really good for information for those that have 100-125 or so, lbs to lose. This is just your body catching up and responding to all of the trama it has been through. Don't be a slave to the scales!!!
Keep doing what your dr ordered and you will do great!!!!! It will work!!!!!

I can feel your pain. I had my surgery on 4-20 and I have only lost 34 pounds so far. I can see it a lot in clothing but I thought the scales would be going down fast. I go to the gym as well. I switched up my workout. I walk 1 1/2 miles a day and do 20 mins on a machine then go do weights and stuff. I think I might be eating too much at times. I started to eat salads to see if that would help. I can do more salad then foods like chicken. I don't eat sugar at all, just sugar food in food. I'm trying to drink more water. I just don't know what to do. I'm going to buy a food scale so I can see how much salad weighs an 1 oz.
Hello Deborah,
I think we all have felt this way. I know I still worry about all the money I spent , and failing....and I have lost 83 pounds in 13 weeks, what you are feeling is so very normal. Trust me, I have found our new tummys will not allow us to eat like old times, take small steps and do as the doctor tells you and you will be a loser
take care
Allison
Hey Deborah - as you see you are not alone in your feelings. First, I became a slave to the scales (stopped now), and then I wasn't losing fast enough. As soon as I kicked up my exercise a notch and at the 7th and 8th week I really started losing again. I'm down 55 pounds in 9 weeks and am really beginning to tell (I am NOT a lightweight). It will work for you, I promise. We are just used to being let down by other diets but this is different. Hang in there and congratulations on your surgery.

Deborah -
I'm started out a little bit heavier then you. I have lost almost 60lbs since Feb.
I noticed my weight loss stalled in May - I had an IUD inserted and this killed my weight loss. Then I started having problems with the IUD major side effects.
It took 3 appointmens but I just got it removed. I beleive that killed my weight loss.
Now, I feel like I've gotta make up for lost time, which really I don't. I am healthy,
don't look pasty or grey and my hair isn't falling out. I have also heared the 'lighter' you go into the slower it is to come off.
We are all different. I have been struggling for about a month, but I decided to wait until my body heals from this IUD fiasco and I also have herniated disc's in my back, so I have to address that, Hence I cannot really exercise with out taking pain medication.
Good Luck and Keep at it. We are all doing great.
