Hello NC I recently called my DH's benefits department and inquired on the health insurance that the company offers and they were nice enough to fax me a 3 page summary of the benefits and amongst the 3 pages it stated WLS is covered if medically necessary So I'm soo excited and praying DH gets permanent !! My next concern was the deductible it is $1000 per person up to $3000 and then 20% after the deductible (the maximum out of pocket wasn't provided in the summary). I'm interested to know if anyone had comparable insurance when you had your WLS and if you mind sharing with me your up front expense, not being noseyjust curious to know a ball park figure , as I figure some of my deductible will be met prior to surgery with the test, etc; that has to be performed prior to surgery. I'm so excited about this insurance as when I began this journey I was so disappointed that my insurance excludes WLS, but with prayer it seems things may work out for me anyways, maybe not as quick as I would like, but I'll take it as I can get it

My insurance has a 500$ deductable and then covered 90/10 up to my $2000 OOP. I already met my deductable - woo hoo. Not sure what the hospital will cost yet - but my surgeon asked for his 10% up front and that was $241. The surgeon should be able to tell you what his costs will be... as for the hospital - you know how they are!

Thanks for sharing Jennifer, and yeah I think it's the hospital portion that's got me more concerned. But it'll be all worth it in the end
