Hello all! I will be moving form Michigan to NC at the end of the month and I will need to find a new doc to do my follow-up with. I had the Duodenal Switch surgery in Sept of 2005. I can research on my own DS surgeons in NC but I wanted to see if anyone had any personal recommendations. I'll be moving to the Apex/Cary area if everything works out with the house we're looking to rent *fingers crossed* Thanks for reading! ~Nim 281/156/135

Hi Nim, Hey, we will be moving down there too! My husband starts his new job in Cary the 26th. I will be down later. I will need to find a doctor who is familiar with the Mini-Gastric Bypass. Anyway, I hope we can meet at a support meeting some day! Paula

Hi Paula, The only place I know of around here that has anything to do with MGB is High Point Regional hospital. Check there and see what you can find out. Kim

I had my MGB at High Point Regional. Dr Walsh and Dr Dasher. We have support group evry 3rd monday. There is a lso a Raleigh/Durham group of post MGBers that have a support group. High Points website is regionalbarriatrics.com and if you are not a memebr of this site there is a lot of info at clos.net. The Raleigh Durham support group psts there a lot. Were you a CLOS MGBer, I am.

Hi, I just realized that High Point is about an hour and a half away from where we will be. I will have to somehow get to the Raleigh Durham one. Are you on the post-op email list? If so, can you keep me informed when their group is meeting? Thanks paula

Nim, I don't know of any local surgeons who do the DS, but would like to invite you to our support group in Cary. We meet on the second and fouth Mondays of the month and have a few special days thrown in when we have speakers who can't make it on those days. Hope you find someone. High Point is pretty far away. You might try Duke or see if Dr. Tim Farrell at UNC could do your follow ups. They don't do the surgery but might be able to follow up or recommend someone. Dottie

I would recommend... Durham, NC (Duke).....Chapel Hill, NC (UNC) or Pinehurst, NC...(First Health) as they are a bit closer to Cary than High Point.. Good Luck with relocating to NC, hope you enjoy, Cary is a beautiful place, I'm sure you'll like, feel free to ask me anything, don't reside in Cary..but am a neighbor..
