Day 1 of the pre-op liquid diet
Somebody pleeeeeeease say it gets better. I am *starving* right now! My head is throbbing and I am super cranky. The thought of chewing on my shoe right now sounds quite good.
Any tips/tricks would help... I can have "blenderized" soup - any suggestions (I do not like cream of tomato or anything with seafood).
Also, getting these liquids in... maaaaaaaan Ive done 4 shakes so far and maybe only 3 cups of water... I know its only 4 but I have to get in 2 more shakes and 3 more cups of water! I have no problem drinking water normally but this liquid liquid liquid is proving to be a challenge!
Jennifer,
I am on day 6 of my liquid diet. It really isn't that bad after a few days. I had a headache but it went away after day 4. I know this sounds crazy but try not tho constant think of what you can't have but what you can have. I wouldn't try to tomato anymore because it's loaded with carbs. I had been having a sort of "lunch" of either lowfat mushroom with milk added or cream of brocoli and also I have had a million sugar free popsicles. ALSO, I love the vegtable broth so I have several cans a day. It taste like v8 sort of. Honestly I can say it does get better. Also I got bottles of water and that has helped me to make sure I am getting enough. Email me if you want more idea of things. honestly, I am full all day!
Good luck to you.

Jennifer,
Right now for me was the hardest part. The liquid diet was tough. I ate boxes of sugar free possicles, I did blend frozen friut up in my protein shakes ( using the Magic Bullet , if you don't have one get one, it will really help ) . I would make up protein shakes with fruit and freeze them and make like slushies.
I hated the broth stuff, but really enjoyed Cream of Mushroom soup. Try Cambell's veggie soup. Do some cottage cheese , once a day will not hurt you. I felt terrible the entie time, I won't lie and make it sound pretty , but TRUST me, if you can do this now it will make thing so much easier after the surgery and, the surgery is so much better than the liquid diet.
I worried before surgery , " is this the way I will feel afterwards" and NO , after your surgery you will not be hungry . Dr Melkonian will take great care of you, he was wonderful to me and Misty , we both adore him.
Hang in there Girlfriend

After about 3 to 4 days on the liquid diet I was not too hungry. I was getting so excited. I went on a liquid diet about a month before the doctor told me to. I wanted to loose some weight before the gbs. And yes I did cheat about 2 times. I just couldn't give up taco bell. They had just came out with the little fried taters with the cheese and sour cream on them. I would have died if I didn't get any. Now I am 11 months out. I still want something every now and then that I know I can't have. Like cake. I ate some saturday and paied the price for it. I was so sick for 3 days. Puking and feeling bad. But I got it out of my system and don't want cake anymore. Good luck to ya.

I already lost almost 40lbs from my first visit with DrMelkonian until now! I cant imgaine being on the liquid diet longer than the two weeks... I am at the point now I only need to lose 100lbs so his office said not to lose any more weight until I started the liquid diet.
I was totally thinking about those cheesy potatoes last nite... I was like hmmm those are mushy! I am not trying to "cheat" but I know post surgery if I dont listen to the Dr then I could hurt myself which will definately help keep me on track.
Also I am not a big sweet person... I like salt. Everything on this diet (except soup) is sweet sweet sweet!
