I was just wondering what type of exercising everyone is doing and how much? When do you fit it into your day? This is what I am mostly struggling with I am walking 4 days a week and up to 20 minutes at a time. I am going to increase every week either time or days each week. It is better for me to get up earlier and do this because I am tired when I get home from work. What do you do??????? Denise

Hi Denise: I am only 2 weeks post op so my exercise is limited right now. I do walk 2x a day 20 minutes each and plan to join curves at 4 weeks post op. Donna

Hi Denise, Exercise is my demon too...I want to, but I don't as much as I should. I used to really enjoy Jazzercise, but I went back after surgery and found I didn't look forward to it at all, so I quit. I have a membership at a gym, but I've only gone to walk a couple of times. I try to do something fairly active everyday, but I'm not as good as I want to be. I have a mental thing right now against it for some reason. I think walking just for the sake of exercise is the most boring thing on earth. I used to run 3 miles a day in college and I loved it, but I wouldn't dare start jogging at this weight for my joints sake. I love aroebics, but I can't find a real aroebics class these days...it is all spinning or kickboxing stuff. Step aroebics used to be fun, but I went to one class at my gym and they do this insanely difficult stuff I've never seen and I didn't go back to that. So, now I'm checking out belly dancing...and I think I might do it. Anything to music is okay. The funny thing to me is that I'm naturally an athletic person...I have great hand and eye coordination and great endurance and a muscular build...this block I have against doing it now makes no sense to me. I'm really discouraged about it. But, I am also trying to be easy on myself for now. I am so healthy and eating great for the first time in a long time, and I think the exercise is going to be a natural progression...once I get to Onderland I plan to start the jogging thing again...that was about what I weighed when I started in college so I'm hoping to do it again. I hesitate to call a trainer because I really don't have the money, but I think I might have to do that just to force myself to get moving. Good luck! Jamey

What I like the best is the cardio deep - it's a swim class at the Y. It's great..and let me tell you work up a sweat in the water.

hi, I have been going to Curves just over a month. They weigh and measure you on your monthly anniversary. I lost almost 8 inches in 4 weeks. I think about 5 of it was around my middle (can't call it a waist yet). It's a 30 minute committment that I have been able to keep 3 times a week. One of my main reasons for joining is how close it is to home. I didn't want not wanting to drive across town to the Y or joining a club full of well-toned exercise fanatics to stand in my way of going. I can't say I love Curves, but I am glad I am doing some regular exercise. I have noticed I have lots more energy after I work out -- to the point that I can get rambunctious at work and very yakky. I have been trying to harness as much of that energy as possible. Maureen

I get up very early...usually about 4:45 and do the Over Fifty forum, this board and the Sept 2005 board. Then on Tues, Thurs and Sat, I jog for a mile! On Mon, Wed, Fri, I do Jazzercise for an hour. About 3-4 times a week, I will also do 20 min on the treadmill at the highest incline, trying to shape up my calves a little bit. On Sundays I usually walk about 3.5 miles in an hour. I am totally addicted! Hopefully I have left for food addiction, smoking addiction and general poor health addiction for exercise. I teach water fitness (aka aerobics) 2-3 x week plus go to 45min sculpt class 2x week and go 1-3 miles on the treadmill 2-4 x week. Plus my walks with my dog. I work weekend option so I am home Sun- Thurs and can pack in all my exercise. I'm not sure how I would fit it in if I worked like a "normal" person!!

Hi Denise. I joined Ladies Workout Express, sort of like Curves. It's a 30 minute workout, I go 4 days a week right now, but am planning to up that to 5. It's fairly easy, which is good, and I get to be out and meet people. Also, in my first month, I lost an inch off of my arms, chest, calves, and hips, and 10 inches off of my waist. I also see an increase in my stamina and speed at which I walk. Good luck. ~Ellen

I don't exercise. I never have and never will. I am 10 months out and been so sick the whole time. It has been all I could do to work. And I look just fine. I lost all the weight. Only place I have loose skin is my arms. And I can hide them so thats no problem. And I am old..................I AM THE BIG 41 WOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO AMY
