Pre-op Liquid Diet Question

Hi All, Ok so I am on day 3 of my two week preop(surgery dt of 5/30/05) liquid diet and I'm doing ok. Yes I'm hungry and yes I have been tempted, but I have resisted and as of this morning, I've lost 6.5 lbs. I also have a wonderful husband who is doing the liquid diet with me to support me. But here is my question: The list of ok liquids given by my doctor shows blenderized soups or broth as ok. What exactly do they mean by blenderized soups? I bought some cambell's healthy request cream of chicken as well as some french onion soup. If I run these through my magic bullet with some protein powder is that ok or will I be cheating? I just don't think that I can live on protein powder or cib for 4 weeks (2 preop and 2 postop). I need something salty/savory as I fear I will tire quickly of just sweet liquids. Thank you all...y'all are wonderful. Cathy

Hello Cathy, My two week liquid diet was the hardest part of my journey, I feel your pain. The soups are fine, I ate French Onion without blending it since it is already so thin. If the chicken soup has chunkys pasta and veggies I would put it in the magic bullet. It is so hard to get enough protein, and I still struggle with it. If you can take the power in the soup go for it , I personally could not. I bet I ate 100 sugar free popsicles that two weeks. Another goody is make a Crystal Light slushie ,,, they taste like a treat. Good Luck , Allison

Allison, Thank you for the support and info. So far I'm doing ok on the liquid diet. Today is day 4 and I have not cheated. As a bonus, I'm already down 8.9 lbs after 3 days which is not too shabby in my opinion. It's weird, I got so big eating carbs and sweets, but now that I'm on this liquid diet, all I want is salt and savory. The CIB is ok but its gets tiring. I'm using unjury protein powders and they're ok. Today I tried Campbell's Select Butternut Squash (a vegetable I would have died before tasting previously) with a scoop of unflavored protein powder. If I were a dog my tail would have been wagging a mile a second...it tasted so good. I'm just hoping I can keep this up. Thanks for everything and best of luck in your wls journey. Cathy
