Topic: RE: Waitlists for surgery in NB!

I've been on a waiting list for just a little over a year now, and was getting discouraged reading about all the long wait times.  I'm in Fredericton, and am on the lists for both Boisvert and Beausoleil.

BUT, today I came home from work and there was a voicemail from Dr. Boisvert's office waiting for me!  I'm going to call them back on Monday asap and set up my first appointment with them.

Get your name on the list ASAP.  I have been kicking myself for not doing it sooner (I'm 36) but I'm sure glad that I'm on the road now to a healthier me.

I don't have much to add to this group but I creep and read everything that is posted.  I was referred for surgery in June 2011 and got a call from the Bathurst Clinic in June 2015.

I went for my first appointment June 17,2015, I meet Dr Semerjian September 10th, and an information session September 21st.  The Bathurst Clinic arranged all my blood tests and oxygen tests at the Chalmers in Fredericton in October 19th and 26th.  I then went for my appointment to meet the anesthesiologist, the nurse and the dietician on November 4th.

I was really hoping that I would be having my surgery in November or December but I haven't gotten any call.  Now I wait for my phone to ring and the caller to give me a surgery date.

Thanks to the boards I called Anne Marie, she suggested my surgery will likley be about 6 months after meeting the surgeon.  Not 6 months after my first visit to the clinic which is what I had thought they said on my first visit.

So I wait, add exercise and healthy choices to each new day waiting for the call.

It is so true what you said Dan.   At only 25 I've been at this for a little over a year, I'm sure by the time I actually have my surgery I will be much more prepared.  I'm so happy I've made the decision to do this at a young age.

Good luck to both you and Cathy tmrw, I cannot wait to follow your progress as I would also like to have the sleeve!

The wait lists are long, and when you are at the start of the process - or even a year into the process - it seems like an unbearable amount of time to not get the help you need.

I've been there. I was referred in April of 2010. But here is an absolutely vital fact; I am having my surgery tomorrow.

It ends. You will have a day, where just like me, you are in the enviable position of knowing that the surgery that you have been waiting on for five years is about to happen. The time in between is a lot less important than you think and allows you to evaluate all of this on a lot of levels and that is very important.

Patience is a virtue, long-term patience is a necessity.

it doesn't surprise me...once everyone found out about him...they all jumped on his bandwagon....too bad there isn\t just one universal list and all doctors call from that one...bet it would make the wait time a lot smaller...lol

Topic: RE: Dr. Rene Boisvert

I know he has been filling up fast but there are a few things different with Dr boisvert he does not go by referral dates he chooses his patients and from what I under stand does not take anyone that is very high risk. Like extremely obese like over 600lbs, over age 50, heart issues, etc.  Or smokers he is very very strict on the smoking you have to be completely quit for 6 months before he will do your surgery and he checks your bloodwork.

I'm pretty sure the receptionist tells everyone that call that so they don't call and get their referrals changed to him because its faster. A friend of mine  called a little over year ago about the same time I got my first call and was told 5 to 7 years... She had her surgery 4 or 5 weeks ago now.
