The impression that I was given was that I will be in and out by this time next year at the very latest. But I will keep you posted!
Wow you could be in for your surgery before I go in for mine in Bathurst. I live in Fredericton and I was referred for surgery to both in Moncton and to the Chaleur Bariatric clinic in June 2011. I got a call from the Bathurst Clinic in June 2015. I met Dr Semerjian on September 10th, 2015 and I was told by the Bathurst hospital preadmitting department that I would likely have my surgery around 6 months after meeting the surgeon. So I am hopeful I will be having surgery by February 2016.
I will be interested in how quickly you get in for your surgery in Fredericton, with Dr Boisvert.
I am really looking forward to the updates as you adjust to your new stomach and way of life. Dan, Cathy, Are you in pain? Are you able to sleep? Any problems?
I hope you are both still doing well post surgery. It's been 6 days and I am curious how the recovery and food changes are progressing for you both.
I hope all is well,
Just an update on the wait list situation with Dr. Boisvert. I contacted their office today and they are sending out my information packet today! It's going to be a lot of information to go through, but when I return it to their office things will move quickly I was told. I will have to go for blood work and to see a dietitian, then comes the appointment with Boisvert for about 45 minutes they said. After they get the go ahead it shouldn't be long after that. I am getting my info packet after just over a year on the waiting list, I think my name has been on it 13 or 14 months now.
I'm excited that things with Boisvert are moving right along!

This got a lot easier when I found out that someone on this forum was in the same group as me and ultimately scheduled for surgery on the same day. Cathy, you're more than welcome for any help I provided you, and let me thank you right back. Congrats to you, and let me say that my one disappointment is that we didn't meet in person while we were in the hospital.
I'm amazed at how smoothly things went. I feel very good, the pain is noticeable but manageable and so far, I've had no nausea of any kind. Doctor Semerjian was excellent and does have a great bedside manner. More importantly, on the day I was to be discharged, he was there before 10am to release me. Far and away the worst thing about this were the hospital beds; they were nasty!
I'm thrilled with how it went and with how I'm feeling now.
Most of the people who come to this forum are still waiting, and if that's you, be patient. You might be thinking that it's easy for me to say that now, but I waited for five and a half years. If you can wait, it will happen.
I plan on staying here and posting my progress - this place could use more of that, I think.
Now, because it's very sunny out, I'm going to go for a short walk.
Well we did it!!! we are home and now recovering...I've followed every little thing in the book and what Dr Semerjian told me...He was a great doctor...great bedside manner. still feeling tired but have periods of lots of energie....so I just need to take a few more days to recuperate. It was great finding someone who was at every step with me at same time... If I had an appointment so did Sinister Dan...lol Now hopefully we can question each other on what is happening. Thank you Dan!!!

I think it's a little bit daunting to people to post a lot. We're all struggling and all in the same boat, but it can be disheartening to post something or ask a question, and see 100 views and no reply.
Just my thoughts on it :)
