Topic: RE: Dr.Boisvert waiting times

@Daretodream2016 I was referred approx 1.5 years ago and I am now finishing up with the dietitian and waiting on my appointment from Dr. Boisvert. I called today 2.15.16  and they are out for the week. I'm curious to see when I can expect an appointment for surgery. In the meant time I am going soup crazy. I hope this helps set your expectations.  I'll let you know how I make out. :)

Thanks Dan.  If you ticker is correct you must be eating right and exercising.  How are you finding the adjustment to such small portions?  Any healthy foods giving you trouble or can you eat almost anything you should but in small portions?

Did you add your exercise before surgery - has it gotten easier after surgery or the same until you saw a drastic difference in your weight?  I keep taking up walking but the pain in my knees and hips keeps me from making it a consistent part of everyday.  The ladies in Bathurst assured me after surgery and some quick weight loss, my knee and hip pain should be reduced so that I don't find exercising so difficult.

Anyway - I wanted to say that your weight loss scale results seem great - how are the other benefits after surgery?

That's a great point.

There's so such thing as too much knowledge for this process. Read as much as you can from good sources and if you get time with a professional, pump them for all the knowledge you can get.

The dietitian in Bathurst was really excellent.

And I wish you, the very best of luck getting in to egt your sleeve done. The fun part is after the surgery...

Topic: Absolutely great appointment with the Dietician Today

My surgery has been delayed twice because my blood work results haven't been good.  I have been taking supplements to try and improve the results but I still needed help.  Today I visited with the Registered Dietician, Catherine McCain, in person here in Fredericton and received some great information for me.

We went through the supplements I take, whether I could absorb that form of the mineral or Vitamin.  What foods I eat that could provide that vitamin I need and when the foods wouldn't likely be enough and I should supplement.  She was honest, real and very easy to talk with.  She also explained that the Moncton and Fredericton surgeons who do the sleeve have a different process than the Chaleur clinic in that their patients must do a trial run of 1-2 weeks of the liquid diet before they are accepted into the process.

Anyway, I highly recommend her if you are looking for local help in Fredericton, NB with organising your diet.

Thank you for the information Henry.  I will definitely keep that in mind.  I like hearing from people with their experiences :)

Just a bit of information to think about.  I've just recently celebrated my 3 year anniversary of the sleeve from Dr. Beausoleil on Feb 5th.

Before needing to do the 2 weeks liquid I thought I wanted to try it out to see how hard it would be.  So I bought some Diabetic boost as I figured that would be the cheapest way.  I did the boost for 5 days and while not impossible it was hard enough.  When it came time for the actual two week someone told me that the ordered products seemed thicker and gave you a fuller feeling than the boost.  So that is what I ordered and I am glad that someone informed me up front.

The Ordered shakes have a thicker more full feeling consistency than the boost.  I totally understand the savings from getting the boost but at what cost.  The ordered shakes are a bit more expensive but those two weeks of liquids are easier for you to do.  Personally, I think the bit of extra was money well spent.  I got the a mix of the shakes and the Bar's.  I enjoyed the shakes but felt the bars were like chewing sawdust.  however Ive heard from people who love the bars and hate the shakes.  All a matter preference.Hopefully some other have done the same and may be able to agree or disagree, all I can do is share my experience :-)

One more thing to remember it is a tool as they say and not a quick fix.  Back in October I got a wake up call that I had put on 30 pounds since my lowest and was edging towards 300 pounds.  My starting weight was 440 but Once I broke the 300 mark I swore Id never break it again.  I hit 299 and realized that bad habits do sneak back in and that it takes work.  Glad to say it's just 4 months later and I am at my lowest in over 20 years.  that wake up call put me back on the fast track to success.  Always important to be mindful and though it is just a tool watching what we put into our bodies while working out is the perfect compliment to the tool

Cheers

Henry

Yup I have heard from many that he picks and chooses his patients and he will move a patient a head if they are working hard and trying.

My husband is actually going though the process right now it sounds like you are almost exactly at the same spot. He is doing his 2 week diet next week before seeing Dr boisvert

Have you done the prep 2 week full fluid diet yet? Just remember that Dr boisverts diet is way better then the boost LOL even tho he makes you do it twice. The first 3 days suck.. not gonna lie... especially since the end goal is not surgery this first time. but after that you kind of find a groove, I recommend that when you start your first one you start on a Thursday or a Friday (if you work monday to friday) so that day 3 where you are having a pity party for your self your at home and can sleep though some of it. The next time you do it, its spo much easier because you know what your doing and you know your end goal is surgery!

And just so you know, He is kind of scary the first time you meet him in the office. He comes off as cold, but I think he does it so you dont feel comfortable and that you are not easily discouraged, a friend of mine that also had the surgery done by him told me. Just remember the first time you see him remember hes not there to be your friend hes there to make sure you are making the right choice for you. You need to make sure he understands that YOU are ready to make this change and understand the pro's outweigh the con's. After the surgery and for all my follow ups he has been very very great, super nice. Very chatty and what not. Very great guy. I highly recommend him.

Good Luck!
