You are on the same time line as I was 7 years after referral received my first call. I had my surgery a year ago. It is absolutely worth the wait. It changed my life for ever!

I had my consult with Dr. Beausoleil in June 2017 and am apparently about a month or two away from being called to the one day orientation/event. So, almost a year and still not in the orientation day as of yet. However, it is supposed to go fairly quick after that. I'm anticipating July/August for surgery date.

My original referral was in 2011..... Yup, 2011.

Topic: RE: Question for Moncton

I was reading posts on these boards years before I went to my family doctor and asked for a referral. By that time after reading so many posts I knew which Dr I wanted and what I needed to do to ensure that things got moving.I went to my doctor and specifically asked for Dr B at the Georges Dumont- closest hospital to me on PEI. Best advice, make sure your doctor sent the referral letter and ALSO sent the paperwork to your province for approval. Without the approval letter from your province being sent to your bariatric clinic, they will never call you. I waited about a week after my first appointment with my doctor, then I called and made sure that they sent the letter for approval to the province as well as the letter to the clinic. Then about 2 months later I called the clinic to ensure that they had all the paperwork. After that it was about a year before I got my call and a year after that my first surgery. I'm from PEI and had my VSG surgery in Moncton with Dr B and then the DS with Dr T :)

Great news :) I got my letter in the mail. It is for a test or clinic at the bariatric clinic. It tells me to bring my my meds again. This must be the meeting with the Surgeon right? Did you get a letter and not a call for the apt with the doctor? I will call tomorrow to find out more. March 16th. Pretty fast

It should ! I seen the surgeon approx 2-3 weeks after I called back and then it was another 2 weeks then the session. Then the lonnng wait until surgery, it wasnt that long but still approx. 1-2months. They make sure you see the Anesthesiologist and the session at the same time :)

All my info is at the office. There was no change to the eating Menu so I did not need to call back in 1 month. The Psychologist sent over documents to my psychiatrist and that was faxed back to Bathurst. I had my data sheet faxed same day for the visit for my sleep Apnea. Meds were all good (I do blood tests each 6 months for doctor). Wondering now how long it will take them to call me back with a rendez-vous with the Surgeon (Dr. Savoie). Hoping it goes fast as I need to see the Surgeon, then the group of others for 4 hours and then the Anesthesiologist. Hopefully they can fit that somewhere where I don't need to go just for that as I live in Moncton.

I am so happy for you for that weight loss. Wow, that is a lot! I can't wait for my new life :) Thanks!!!!! :)
