Hi there - I also went through that. I was 3 yrs from my initial consult until I had my RNY. As time went on - my increasing health problems and the difficulty I was having continuing to work full time - I'm an ER nurse - plus the fact my younger sister had a heart attack requiring a stent - etc etc - for me - it was do or die. I wasn't happy or healthy and did not want to keep on living life the way I was - knowing it was only going to get worse. I was fully aware of the risks and went to sleep with a smile on my face and said - let's get er done! Be sure and confident in your decision. There are risks - and complications do happen. But - for me - it was a no brainer. Good luck!
I will probably see you! Monique has invited me to go speak to the group again!! :)
I definitely went through that, probably one week before surgery. I didn't have any health problems and didn't 'need' surgery but wanted surgery for a better way of life. I turned my train of thought around to how grateful I was to be so close to surgery and how long I'd waited for it. I only know of one death due to surgery by Dr B and that person ignored the obvious warning signs. I was crying when I was on the surgery table and going under. I think this (sober second thought) is pretty common. I knew I'd have more regrets if I didn't get the surgery and have never regretted it for one day since.
Come off the ledge and join us on the losers bench. Think positive!

So now that I'm getting closer, the bad risks have been going around and around in my head. Looking up stuff online doesn't help. With the almost 2% they say die from the surgery! I've been getting stressed. I know in my heart I need this surgery, but I have nothing wrong with me except the obesity and pain comin from it. I think if something happens, it wasn't worth it. Have anyone else gone through this prior to their surgeries?? Just need a little talking down at this point. I tend to worry too much about stuff. Thanks for listening, hope I didn't freak anyone out!!
I wish I was going! Kim when did you have your consultation and just to confirm was it with Dr. B?

I used the almond and coconut extracts...loved it in the vanilla and the almond wasn't too bad in the Choc. either....I liked them super cold...almost frozen...lasted longer made me feel fuller and after the first 2 days, I was never hungry...I actually like the flavors and wish I could buy them locally...never was able to get on the boost...didn't like the taste...good luck....

I only had water and chocolate diabetic boost for my two weeks.. it was definitely tough, but I kept telling myself that this is what has to be done and tried to stay focused on the big picture.. Good luck to you both, soon it will all be in the past and you will be looking forward to a happy healthier future.. All the best..
but then again, my surgery was almost 2 years ago and things may have changed since then.
