So five years have passed and I did get a call to go for a consultation on July 8. It had been so long that I forgot my username and password for this website so I made a new profile, but just_colleen is me LOL
And yes I did scroll through about two years worth of old posts to find the ones I made so I could revisit then five years later LOL

I'm still trying to find out what type of surgery or surgeries they do at Bathurst...do they do the Vertical Sleeve? Roux en y? I and hoping I can have the vertical sleeve. If my only option were the lap band I would say thanks but no thanks from what I have read.
Congrats! I got my call as well and will be going to Bathurst for my 1st appointment July 9. Soooo excited that it will finely start to move!!!
Yay!! Congrats to all three of you!!! Your on your way to a much healthy er you!! I had my surgery Jan 20th and everyday I wake up thank-full that I had it.. Im down 96 pounds already.. it feels absolutely amazing!!
I got my call as well. My referral went in on August 2009 and my appointment is for July 16th in Bathurst. So after that what happens next? I've found out all kinds of stuff about the surgery etc, but my question is what happens after the first appointment? Like do you go on a liquid diet for 3 months or do you have to lose weight before the surgery and how long does it take usually to get your surgery after your consolation. I have as well seen people posting 6 weeks after surgery and are down 50lbs? Is this normal? I am so very excited not to be my groups TOKEN FAT FRIEND with the great sense of humor!! I want to shop in normal stores and live to see my daughter get married!!

hi colleen
if you got a call to go to Bathurst then you have Dr savoie he the doctor for that area and if you would have went to Moncton you would have Dr beausoleil he the doctor I had in Moncton. there is three different surgeries they do they will tell you what they recommend you have but it's your choice on what to have done.
1 is the lap band that is when they put a band around your stomach to limit the food in take there is a port on your side under the skin where they can remove liquid or add to the band to make it smaller or larger and can be reversible if you choose to have it removed
2 is the sleeve this is what I had done this is make 5 to 6 small cuts like if you have had a gallbladder surgery and they remove half of the stomach to make it smaller to the size of a banana this is not reversible most people choose the sleeve it's one of the newest surgeries they do now.
3 is a full gastrol bypass this is only done if nothing else works
they will tell you when you meet doctor savoie and you don't have to pick right then they give you time to decide and you will have and all day course that you meet the nurse who exsplans everything to you and a dietichon who tell you what you eat and a concealer to help you to make sure your doing it for the right reasons and to help with the stress and to make sure your ready for the surgery because it a major surgery.
I just found your post when I was searching for information about the Bathurst Clinic...in particular what specific type of surgery they do there. I cannot seem to find that anywhere online.
I got the call yesterday to go to the Bathurst clinic for an appointment on July 8 after what I guess was somewhere between 5-6 years on the waiting list. In that time I had not just been "waiting" though...in the past 3 years I managed to lose 70 lbs on my own, and then put it all back on again!
I had stopped waiting, really, and hadn't really given much thought to WLS recently, so the call threw me for a loop. Instead of being ecstatic I am feeling mostly confused, knowing this is my only chance probably and also having a lot of fears. I appreciated your post which mentions some of these fears about dealing with the emotional side of everything.
