HI all, first time posting on here....I had my first appointment with the nurse and Dr. Beausoleil today...it went rather well but am surprised at the lenght of time expected before the all day info session and the actual surgery.

Topic: Two months

It's been two month s and things are going well I am down 56lbs and I feel better than I have in years.I am so thankful for the surgery and all the things I can do now I am happy to be a Canadian because I couldn't have paid for the surgery myself. It took me five years but it was very worth the wait.

Its hard to believe that tomorrow things truly seem to start. Im trying to prepare myself as much as possible by reading blogs, watching the surgery on-line, watching youtube videos etc. There is so much information out there about the VSG that makes this process a whole lot easier. Anyone out there heading to the session tomorrow with Dr B?

After you first consult you will have another appointment for an info session, then next appointment will be surgery.. With Dr. Savoie you do Diabetic Boost for 2 weeks before surgery.. Diabetic boost and water only.. you need to to that to shrink your liver for surgery.. I had my first appointment July of last year and was sleeved in January.. so 6 months.. Now it may not be like that for everyone that's just how it was for me.. (time frame wise) I lost 50 lbs in two months.. now five months later I am down 97 lbs.. This surgery is best thing I could have ever done for myself.. Im happy, have more energy and Im shrinking and Im sure I have added more years to my life.. I still have a ways to go and that's ok... I will get there.. Take care and all the best!!

My bmi is about 56 and dr b suggested right off vertical sleeve. That was what I really wanted anyway so it worked out good for me.  I thought if you were 100 lbs or less he suggested lapband, but if over that it was the sleeve?
