Is your appointment at 1:30. Im so excited to go. We might meet each other overthere. The secretary told me that we are suppose to be 7 of us.
I got a call to go on August 28th as well. A little nervous, but so excited!! I'm not sure what the time line will be for surgery, but just being one step closer after waiting so long is exciting.
I found I never really thought too much about the surgery after my doctor sent the referral in 2009. It seemed like such a distant possibility that I kind of put it out of my mind and continued to make attempts to lose weight on my own. I am pretty good at losing weight but not so great at keeping it off, unfortunately. In the time since my referral in 2009 I lost 40 lb and gained it back, then tried again, was doing awesome and lost 70 lb - and gained back most of that. All since 2009. I always get to the same place, about 230 lb, and then everything grinds to a halt and I realize that to go any further I will need to cut back even more calories and spend even more time exercising and it all seems so overwhelming that I get frustrated and give up - especially the idea of having to eat even less food to continue losing weight because I know I will be hungry and I know I can't be hungry for the rest of my life. So this is where I am hoping the sleeve will give me the tool I need to get past that hunger (or fear of hunger).
That is great news Colleen, I to got my call in June and my first visit was July 18. I am anxiously awaiting to see what is next. Hopefully I get to my my doctor soon .I met with the nurse, the shrink and the dietician all in the same day. I have already had my mind made up way before I even went for my first visit. I am more excited thinking about it everyday. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.lol I actually almost gave up on it all because of waiting and calling Bathurs to see where my name was on the list, but worth the wait in the long run. They told me I could have 3 more visits or something like that before the surgery, so if all goes well by the new year, it will a new me:)
I just got a call from the secretary of Dr. Boievert. I have a appointment on august 28 at the office to get a package of information. So excited :-)!
That is great, experiences like that can be even sweeter than seeing the number drop.
So I got called on June 18 to go for the first consultation on July 8. That went well and I then met with Dr. Savoie on July 30. Decision was made and papers signed to have VSG. I was expecting it to be sometime next year before the actual surgery but Dr. Savoie said it would be "probably sometime in the late fall"...to which I replied, "THIS fall???" LOL I have to say that is way sooner than I ever expected but I'm not complaining. And to think that on June 17 WLS was the furthest thing from my mind, considering how long ago I was referred. I was apprehensive at first but now I'm very excited.
Thanks for the reply bigchris, I have already met with the nurse to have the talk about the surgeries, the same day I met with the shrink to discuss if I am ready to do the surgery and then met with the dietician, all in the same day.I already told them the surgery I wanted done, and have had my mind made up for a long time. Did all the research, pros and cons, results, etc. So just want to move on to the next step. I just had my sleep apnea test done last Friday. Not sure if they do the same procedure in Bathurst. So people tell me it should not be as long where as I met with these ones already. I don't know. Just wanted to see what happens next, starting to get very anxious. All info is very helpful:)
