I went to Moncton yesterdy for the final stuff before my schedualed surgery on the 21st. The nurse said when I did the pre-admission testing 2 weeks ago my blood was low. It was 87 whatever that means. Today I had more blood drawn and got a call a few minutes ago that it's 84 now. The Dr. has to postpone my surgery and do a scope to see if I'm bleeding internally. I'm disappointed, but I understand we need to do things safely.
Huge differences between the two. The Boost high protein has 240 calories, 18 grams sugar, and 15 grams protein, where the Boost Diabetic comes in at 190 calories, 0 grams sugar, and 16 grams protein (according to MFP). So you'd be getting more protein, and less sugar and calories with the diabetic one.
Hi Mary,
Thank you so much for responding! I have spoken to Dr Christou's office yesterday, and obtained the cost...whew!! $19,500 + flights and hotel.
I am now doing my research on Mexico, so I was very pleased to get you message indicating that you husband had such a wonderful experience. How long did he have to wait after his initial contact with the Doctor? Did you use a medical travel agent?
Sorry for all the questions, but as I mentioned above, I'm doing my research.
Thank you, Faith

Had my follow up yesterday in Moncton. Didn't think I was doing so well as I haven't lost really any weight in the last few weeks. Dr b felt I was doing really good. That made me feel good. According to their scales, I have lost 6 1/2 lbs in the past four weeks. Dr b says if you lose a lot before surgery you slow down after because you have already lost a lot of water. I told him I lost only 13 lbs in the pre op diet. I didn't think that was a lot. He said it was and I realized, ya, 13 lbs in two weeks IS a lot! Everything is better. I was back to the hospital a week after with stomach pains that turned out to be just irritation from the bile in my stomach. He gave me sulcrate to coat the stomach to help. I took it three times a day. Over time I realized I didn't need it anymore so now I don't take it anymore. I am now working on fitting in all the supplements with the food and water that I need! I priced the iron at shoppers and it was terribly overpriced. Rinette said to try Costco. Success! They had the brand they suggest and it is only $8 for a month. That is better than $20 at shoppers. Just ask for it at the pharmacy.
Just wondering I am on the boost diet now, so this is all new to me, but a friend of mine asked me what is the difference of using boost with high protein, compared to diabetic boost. I didn't know what to tell her. Is there a difference, and can that boost high protein be used just the same ????? She is wanting to buy it now, but I told her I'm not sure.
My 1st appt was in July and then an appt every month so a lot of travelling. I had to drive to Bathurst 5 times ( twice the same week so that sucked) so for me it's 4 months after my 1st visit. I was told by the Doctor in September not until Feb because that is where they were at so don't get discourage my dear they always over estimate the time in case something happens. Keep in mine the holidays are just around the corner. so that will cause a stall for a few weeks. I'm not sure if you use facebook but there is a group page with a lot of valuable information that people are sharing from every where but it's a great place to read and get extra information. it's called "Gastric Sleeve Fall 2014 Support"
Hello there. I finished all my visits to Bathurst and all my tests and I got my call roughly 3 weeks later. I already started my boost, today is day 2. My surgery is on Nov 27th. Very excited and nervous at the same time. I have waited 5 years for this , but it is so worth it in the long run.
Hi there - chiming in from Newfoundland. My husband went to Dr. Joya in Peurto Vallarta in May if last year for a VSG. Excellent experience and he has done well. We self payed and it was worth every penney. I have seen posts from people here on the NB board who have gone to Dr. Christou. He has an excellent reputation and if memory serves me right - was involved in Dr. Beauoliel's training. Have not seen any postings in a long time though. Try looking at the Quebec board. This is a link to Dr. Christou's website. Best of luck to you! www.weightlosssurgery.ca

Wow joanne it went fairly quick to get your surgery date...I am with dr. Savoie...and 2 weeks ago was told that surgery would not be before 2-3 months and yesterday was told to wait 4-6 months...very confusing...
So I am all done with meetings with the bariatric clinic and also completed my pre-op tests already...Can you guys tell me how long it took for you to have your surgery date after all the meetings were completed. Thanks I appreciate it.
