Hi guys
new member here. I have my consult with Dr. theriault in a few days and I'm excited and nervous!! I'm wondering how long is it between consult-surgery.
Heres a back story.
I had a consult with Dr. B in August 2011 and in May 2012 I went to the info session. I got scared and asked for more time to think about my decision for surgery. In Nov 2012 his clinic informed me that I had til Nov 2013 to make a decision or they will have to close my file. In Oct 2013 I got pregnant and I didn't get the chance to get my surgery. Fast forward to April of this year. I ended up at the ER due to breathing problems and swelling. I got sent to a lung specialist who saw how bad my weight was affecting my breathing and my swollen legs and mobility. He was able to get me a call for a consult within a few weeks and I finally go in a few days. I have been on the waiting list for years for Dr. Boisevert in Fredericton and with the surgeon in Bathurst as well. I'm very grateful I am able to meet with Dr. Theriault on such short notice.
has anyone had surgery with Dr. theriault? I'd be interested in hearing from you!
I had my first consult October 2016 w/ Dr. Beausoleil... was told I'd hear about the day long info session in the spring, but haven't been contacted yet.
I was done June 8 in Fredericton it was easier than I though, it will be here before you know it
You can call and they will give you an estimate of where you are on the list. When I was referred it was a 3 year wait and that was in 2015. I went and put my name in Fredericton and got the call last November and am having surgery this month (July 20). So maybe get your name in there as well if you still have a long wait. Good Luck.
So I got my surgery date this past Tuesday. I am having my VSG done on July 20th. I am so freaking excited, nervous, happy, scared, and know my life is going to change for the better. Just these past few months my life has changed so much. I suffer from long-term bipolar depression and social anxiety. I basically only leave my apt when necessary. But this has made me do things I never thought I would be doing, a few months ago. I now work out almost 5-6 times a week for 30 minutes (hoping to increase to 45 then 60min). I have driven myself to Fredericton for my appt with Dr. Boisvert. Something I would have never done before. So already my life is improving. Start liquids Monday. And soon I will be on the loser's bench!
Well I finally met some of the team today. Everyone seems nice. Next step I guess is waiting for the day-long team consult within 10 months. Dr. Beausoleil thinks I'm a great candidate for the surgery (VSG) and I'm pretty excited.
I am excited , scared, and nervous. I got my call and have my pre-op testing on Monday June 19th and my duodenal switch surgery is scheduled with Dr Christelle Theriault at the Georges Dumont for July 19th.
I had a VSG in December 2013 with Dr Beausoleil and lost 180 lbs. in my first 18 months. I then regained and lost the same 20 lbs at least 4 times in the past 2 years. I have made the decision to have this second surgery after it was suggested by both Dr B and his wife who is also a doctor but I can't remember her name :)
I am doing this with the hope that it will bring me closer to my healthy BMI and weight loss goals. If anyone has had VSG and not been as successful as they hoped or had regain and would like to talk to me about my experience please feel free to ask any questions.

I had my name in for both Dr. Savoie and Dr. Boisvert. I was referred to Dr. Savoie in March 2015 and a month or so later to Dr. Boisvert. I received my first call from Dr. Boisvert's office in Nov 2016. I have had my consultation with him, and was told I was a good candidate for the surgery. He said it would be done in 2-3 months, that was May 10th. I am looking for tips to help with stages 3 , 4 and 5. I already did the two week trial of stage 3, but any help that I can get would be greatly appreciated.
Wow....thanks for the heads up. I am having mine in the next couple of months. Am so nervous. Are you glad you did it?
