Topic: Uncomfortable around port area and it's been MANY years

I do have an appointment to see Dr B next Thursday but wondering who has been through this. Last Monday, I thought I "pulled" a muscle in my abs but it seems to be ongoing. I called the nurse to see if I should go to my local hospital but she said to come see Dr B. Have others been through this? Could it be a slip / flipped port after all these guys? It's been about 9 years I think. I haven't had a fill in well over a year and very little weight loss so I don't know what might have spurred this.

On another note, I can't seem to lose - stuck around 195 and I'm only 5'2. Don't want another surgery, fills are a cycle (too much, take some out, too little, put some in). I'm considering getting it unfilled to try a bigger variety of foods but also worried I will gain back more weight.

Hey I had the surgery two and a half years ago. At first I was emotional you can't eat like a normal person anymore and you'll never be able to. I still can only eat around a cup of food at a time. My biggest struggle after surgery was I lost 160lbs in one year. I went from 310lbs to 150lbs. So I had some loose skin even though I exercised a lot. If you want it removed you have to pay for it out of pocket the province doesn't cover it and its pricey. Sure I wasn't comfortable in my skin when I was bigger and I'm not now that I'm smaller. It's very emotional. I just look at it now that I'm healthy now.

thank you for your reply. I really don't want to have to wait the 5-6 years. It's too bad people have to go through this to get a handle on their health.

Anyone have experience self paying in Ontario? or Quebec? I am just not sure I can swing it.

No clue about out of province referral but I would suggest you get your refferal sent everywhere. There is a clinic in Bathurst also and I believe in fredericton.
