Still waiting ;0(
Hi Shelly
I know the waiting is the hardest thing to go through. When I spoke to Dr.B's office about 3 month's ago. His office said that there was a 2-5 year. I was detirmined that I waasnot going to wait for that length. I looked at other locations. Mexico, and Ontario. I knew what surgery I wanted to have, all I had to do was decide where to go.
I have to be selfpay because NS doesn't pay for lap-band procedure. I was able to find financing through Credit Medical. They were very helpful and the application was an easy proccess. They forward all of the funds to the DR's office on my behalf. I have decided on Dr. Chris Colburn in Ontairo. His waiting time was 3 months. Those are just a couple of options. Your choices are unlimited if you have the ability to pay on your own. One thing is that you can claim this on your income tax.
If you have any other questions just e-mail me.
Good luck
Laurie
That's what I don't understand. I've been going through this process with Dr. B since 2001. Surely, my time is close to happening. If I called them would they know roughly or at least how many people are ahead of me??
Thanks for getting back to me by the way. Travelling elsewhere for the surgery never really entered my head until know.
Shelley
Shelley,
You can call Dr. B's office. That is how I found out how long the list was.
Does the NB medicare cover surgery out of province? It would be wonderful to have the surgery in your own province but there is such a shortage of anesthesists it makes it almost imposssible to get the procedure done in a shorter time line. I just was not going to wait that long. I don't think my knees were going to hold up
I looked at a Dr. Kuri in Mexico. The cost is a*****eaper but I changed my mind when I thought about the aftercare. I chose Dr. C. cobourn in Mississauga, On. You can use my profile to link with his site. There also the link for the finance company I used.
As for the aftercare. I will be staying in On. to be trained in doing the fills. That is as long Dr.C is happy with my ability.
Good luck
Laurie
