I posted here in April of 2010 when I got my referral for Lap Band surgery. Haven't been back much since then.
I got the call today from the office in Bathurst and I have a consult in mid-July. I had just about given up hope. Kind of happy, kind of nervous - I wasn't expecting to get the call.
Good day, I suppose.
Congratulations! The process will fly by now.
As a suggestion.... I would also consider the gastric sleeve, in the past 5 years their seems to be a lot of people getting a revision surgery to the sleeve from the band due to either complications or not working. I believe the Doctor in Bathurst does both. :)

I had actually been wondering about that. In the years that I've been waiting I have not stopped reading up on the various techniques and the trends that have both developed and started to fall off. I also notice a lot of people here who have had the VSG done.
If it's an option in Bathurst, it's where I would intend to start the conversation.
So, now that I have an initial appointment, what should I expect?
I had mine in Fredericton and I know the process is a little different but I had to attend the info session and see the NUT first.
I believe the info session is the same for you.
I had to do a 8 day prep diet (full fluids) before I could even meet the DR. I don't think you will have to do that.
My best suggestion is to be very honest with the NUT believe it or not its really hard but the info they tell you will be more accurate and be way more helpful. I have continued to see my NUT even though they say I have completed my required sessions. I still feel like I learn more and more from her at every visit.

That's great information - thank you.
I know that the conditions will vary for everyone, but how long were you from the first call to surgery? Am I looking at another year? Another 6 months?
I really have no idea.

I'm really not sure. I had no cause to call between my GP's referral and when I got the call from the clinic.
I can't see that it would hurt.
