A question I just thought of
When you have the surgery in Bathurst and are from out of town, are you expected to stick around Bathurst after being discharged for follow-up checks? I have heard that after being discharged from the hospital some people who have to travel a long distance have to stay in town as an outpatient for another couple of days, anyone else heard of this happening in Bathurst?
I had surgery in Bathurst and live in Sackville. The only thing they did before I left was time my pain meds so I could do the 3 hour drive relatively pain free. I was discharged at 11:00 and home by 2:00. One thing I would recommend is that if you plan on stopping for a washroom break pick a place with handicap bathrooms.
i was in like 2.5 years ago. i was in for 5 days (it has changed since then) when they released me i was not expected to stay around after that. i was driven home by family. i am in fredericton so was around 3 hrs.
i recommend a pillow. it helped alot to be pressed against your tummy for bumps and bad roads.
I had my surgery there on Nov 26 and once I was released from the hospital I came home and didn't have to stick around. I did have to go back fora 6 weeks check-up. I did get the sleeve and not the band though so that could be different. The sleeve is irreversible because 80% of your stomach is gone, but once it's gone and you stayed at the hospital for 3 or 4 days you are sent home
