Staples out!

yeah finally got my staples out. Dr b makes you wait three weeks because he said he used to do them at two weeks and found that the wounds opened up. So he waits three. Each point where the staples went in my skin was all red. But Monique said that it is normal because of how long they are in. People who had other abdominal surgeries told me they would hurt coming out. But other than the odd little pinch they all came out without incident.
At this appt you also meet with the dietician. She goes over how you've been eating as well as prepares you for when you go on real food. She also told me about all the supplements we have to take, multivitamins, calcium with vitamin d, vitamin b12, and an iron supplement.
Congratulations, it's very freeing to get the staples out! Consider getting a script for a B12 shot and get your doctor's nurse (or if you have a nurse in the family like I do) to give it to you once a month. It's one less pill to take every day, it's not practical for everyone but I wanted to flag it as a possibility.
I got my staples out on PEI as the bariatric clinic for Dr B closed just after my surgery as he was on vaca for Xmas. My family Dr had no problems doing it for me and it saved me a trip to Moncton so that was nice but my staples were in for a bit longer than usual so some skin had started to regrow and it was a little painful to get them out. Hope all is still going well for you.
