Ketosis

I know about Ketosis happening when you are on the shakes and that it can cause headaches and nausea. I have heard this starts about three days after you are on the shakes. I am wondering if it will continue the whole two weeks on the shakes, or if you body gets used to it and you feel better after a bit? And if so, how long after for most people? I just want to prepare as I don't do well with either of those symptoms. Also, does tylenol work on that kind of a headache? I usually take ibuprofen and have been told not to take any for two weeks before surgery. I have prepared work that I may be out for the week before surgery because of those symptoms.
You might have headaches in the first day or two but they're run of the mill. I think I had a headache the first evening but that was just stressing myself out wondering if I could stick with it for two weeks. I haven't heard of anyway not being able to go to work because of withdrawals symptoms from the pre op diet. But I've been wrong before!
I only had a headache for first day and it went away fast if you start giving things up now it easier I quit drinking pop a month before my surgery. your going get some bowl movements. I only got sick at the end I could only drink the chocolate shakes at the end because the vanilla ones made me sick so I used diet boost to replace my missing shakes.
No, not at all. Maybe one the first day or two but I don't even think then. Mine was probably from coming off the pop (if I did get one).
As far as the shakes at work, all you can do is try them blended at home and refrigerated but I don't think it would be the same effect), just like a milkshake wouldn't be as good out of the fridge later. Try it but you may want to have a back up plan. I think I bought the Bullet on my way home that first day.
You'll get through it regardless and find something that works for you. Keep us posted, we're rooting for you.
i agree with cindy, i think mine started around day 2-3 and lasted like 2 or three days. mine was prob from caffeine withdrawal as well as other things. it went away and you body adjusts, at least with me it did.
not sure about the tylenol. i know i was told the same thing with aspirin products, dont take them in the weeks leading up to surgery as they are blood thinners. my dr said not to have them after surgery either. so i take tylenol when i need something
I quit caffeine well in advance of the pre op diet too and I think that helped a lot. Be sure to stay hydrated too as that will help with headaches. I am REALLY prone to nausea and never had it while on the pre op diet. You'll be fine!

Thanks for all your posts. You guys are like warm fuzzies on demand. Lol. I feel better about the chance that I probably won't be sick for the next two weeks. Shakes start tomorrow. I was told I had to give up my dark pop last November by the psychologist. She wouldn't put my name forward til I did. I was very addicted to it then. Now if I want pop I was drinking 7up or root beer. And I don't do coffee and very rarely tea, so I haven't really had caffeine for six months. Hopefully that helps. I thought the headaches and nausea were from the lack of sugar and carbs in the diet.
Anyway. Here it goes. Celebrated my sons 16th birthday today. Had supper at Montana's and cake at home. All done real food now! At least I can drink mio, so not just yucky shakes and water. :)

What is considered shakes? I drink three protein drinks. It could be a pre-ready shake, a protein clear drink or protein power and water/ milk, bone broth
Do those all qualify?
