Delurking!
Hi. I've been lurking for a while, and figured I would introduce myself. I'm 34, I live in Fredericton, and have recently spoke with my general practitioner about being referred for weight loss surgery. I've been referred to Dr. Boisvert, in Fredericton, but I don't have any idea how long the wait list is or what the steps I'll have to go through are! Except for some of the information on this forum (which seems to be about a different doctor, mostly, so I'm not sure if it's NB policy or that doctor's policy), there is an absolute dearth of information about weight loss surgery in NB. Has anyone else been to this doctor, or had similar experiences? Or live in Fredericton? I hope I'm not posting in the wrong area, I notice most of these posts are about a clinic in Moncton. :)
It's nice to meet you all, and I'm glad that this forum exists. A lot of you have given me the courage to speak to my doctor about my weight, although I think I have a healthy fear of the five year wait too! I'm just so excited and impatient to get my life back that I hope it seems like time flies for all of us who are waiting. :)
i am in fredericton too, though i cannot add any to the wait list question as i had mine in bathurst as the dr in fredericton is fairly new. there used to only be the two drs in NB, then it went to three (two in bathurst and one in moncton) i would have no idea how his list, procedures and timeline go. nice to see that there are now 4 dr's here. hopefully this will help with everyone's wait list.
there are quite a few folks here that are a wealth of information at all stages of the game. veterans, new surgeries, waiters and those with questions as it is something they are thinking about.
any questions, just throw them out there. we are all here for each other.
welcome to the forum btw :)

I am in oromocto although I am seeing the dr in Moncton. He was the only one five and a half years ago when I started this journey. I should have my surgery in the fall. Hopefully your wait won't be so long! Welcome to the forum. Although it's different drs I think the end results are similar. The healing and eating, even the before stuff, the frustrations of waiting. So even though we have different drs we have lots in common or can learn from others when unsure about things happening. Better to be informed and can ask questions of your dr.
