This might sound like a silly question, but does anyone know if I would have to take my gel nails off before surgery?

Yes, they want no nail polish on nails so the anesthetist can watch the nail bed during surgery....if you are low on oxygen it is the first area to start turning blue. 

agree with Kris, they tell you right off, not even any nail polish, no earrings or jewelry, not even a hair bobble. they have their own.

but i never knew why about the nail polish, thanks for advising us.  now we know :) 

Thank you so much...I started taking my nails off..lol It feels funny.. I go to Bathurst on Wednesday for the last of my pre op tests and to see the nurse and anethegeist.. (I know I spelled that so wrong) then surgery on the 20th.. Thanks for the info!!

Curious to know when was your referral?  I am dec 2009 and wondering how long I still have to wait.

oh my they have been on the May list for almost a year now.  :(  I  was hoping it was going to be closer. gggrrrr the wait is soooo long and if they are so far back I can't see mine until the Summer.

I so understand how your feeling... We all do, its defintely a long long wait.. I really dont even have any advice other than to hang there.. Your time will come eventually..

Yeah Lesley!!! Surgery is coming fast. I don't know why but I am so excited for you and Anxiousgirl...maybe because we have been following everyone's journey. I am 7 months out now and 1 pound short of losing 100. 

Thanks jjwbuster, it is really coming quick! Mine is Monday and I am really starting to get nervous. I am an OR nurse so maybe that increases my anxiety! Lol.  I will keep u guys all updated as soon as I can, or Lesley if you come see me in the hospital feel free to post. When do you think I will be discharged? How long did most people stay?
