So frustrated..
I went for my first meeting with Dr Savoie , Oct 18th and when I was meeting with the nurses and asking her questions and stuff, she had said to me that he might make my appointment right then, it was like someone punched me , and I lost my breath and everything I was so excited LOL, but he did not, I did sign papers and stuff, and it seemed as though the surgery date would be sooner than later the way they were talking, Im hoping sooner, I have talked to quite a few people on here regarding how long a wait it was until surgery and it was all different answers, so unfortunately, I think we just have to wait and pray our time comes quickly, It can be a little discouraging, But they way I look at it is ive been this way my whole life and have been waiting 7 years for my time to come, whats a few more months. it will happen eventually, and hopefully for everyone VERY soon :D keep your chin up, and stay positive and just imagine how great we will feel once we do get that call :D
i was told the same thing in the end of june that surgery would before christmas i only got my call to meet with him again to sign my papers on november 20 2013 for the surgery and now waiting starts again but if i waited 5 years to get my first call to meet him i guess i can wait a little longer. so don't be bummed be happy we traveled this fare what's a little longer waiting. think of all the people who haven't even met with him yet and a what they are going threw. we are so much closer to our goals so cheer up it will come soon enough. It reminds me of what my 5 year old girl says every time we go for a drive she says are we their yet how long will it be and i never even left the drive way yet. so lets be happy we only short distance to go well others have have never even left the driveway.so good luck and hope everything goes well for you we are all most arrived to our destanation then our next trip will start.
Oh I know your all so right.. I just wish I had a date...just the date and Id be happy..lol To be honest I am getting over the disappointment... It just sucked at first..lol But you know thats whats so great about this forum.. when one of us is down the rest come behind us and pick us up.. Thanks everyone :)
I KNOW the waiting is hard guys - way back in my day - I was 3 yrs from the time of my first appt with Dr. B. until I had my sugery. A lot went on in that time with my health that wasn't good - but it just made me all the more sure that RNY was the right choice for me. (VSG was relatively new then and not routinely done). The other thing was that I came from another province to NB to have my surgery as bariatric surgery only started to be done here in NL a few yrs ago. As far as I know - and I could be wrong - there is at least a few yrs wait here now. Take heart and your time will come!
Thanks Lesley! I was fortunate in that my Grammie used to live in Kentville, NS, my parents had a summer home in PEI, and I met a friend for life at my education session in Moncton. She lives in Quispamsis, NB. So between all of them - I always had places to stay, people to visit and if I had flown into PEI and was combining a visit with my parents - a vehicle to use. It was somewhat costly at times - but no where near what it would have cost to go to Mexico or something like that. So I feel fortunate that NB was an option for me. So for the most part - I got to combine travel with the pre-op and post-op appts - so it was all good!
