Surgery in less than 2 weeks

My surgery is scheduled for July 9th.  I'm having the lap band done.  I'm curious as to how many have not been released the same day, and if so, what was the reason for being kept over night.  As well, if you were released the same day, what time were you able to leave the hospital.  My surgery is scheduled for 10 am.  I also have another question, after having the lap band surgery, how long did you have to wait till you were able to drive?  Thanks in advance for your answers.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I am not sure what the rule is for your doctor but I was not allowed to drive as long as I was taking any narcotic pain reliever. 

Congrats!  I had the sleeve and was told 1 week not to drive since if you have an accident, you will not be covered by your insurance due to anesthesia.  Also if you are still taking medication after one week you can't drive until you are off of them.

I only took pain medication the day of surgery and the next day, that was it for me.

They gave the following example, they wouldn't want us to hit the breaks for a child crossing the street and then having to release the peddle due to pain.

I had the lapband surgery with hernia repair. I was the first surgery of the day. Went in surgery around 8 am and was discharged around 3 pm. Same day. I did not drive for two weeks. No lifting for six weeks. I scratched one of my incisions , which made it scar so lesson learnt. Do not pick at any scabs. Good luck on your weight loss journey.
