What the heck did I do????
Eating was a chore for the first few month from the start is basically making sure you get enough protein in to stop or lessen hair loss and give you a bit of energy. Eating normally again i think came at about 6 to 8 months mark. I can't say you will ever eat a normal person's diet ever again. I was a year out on April 18 and I still have plenty of stuff i can't tolerate. I know not all people have problems tolerating specific foods but i can't say i am not glad that i have trouble tolerating fried foods and most breads. I have not once regretted having this surgery. From the surgery date, i can say it took maybe a good 2 months before i started having energy levels to be able to start exercising and not having the feeling that i needed a nap every 3 to 4 hours. I was tired and moody for a good 2 months. After that, it slowly started getting better as the weight came off, energy returned, adding exercise gave me more energy. As far as the time it takes to get food down, it will slowly get better. I can usually get a meal in my tummy in about 20 minutes or so. If i go faster, i get nauseated and can't finish my portion. At about the 6 months mark i believe is when i stop feeling like i had to be eating and drinking every waking moment. You will be able to start knowing what you need to put in and how much time you need to give yourself to put in your liquids. At week 3 post op, most people will have a stall. This can last anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks and is normal. Your body is simply catching up. You can probably find more information on the dreaded 3 week stall on this site. For me it lasted only a week, for a friend of mine it lasted 3 weeks. Pity parties are ok right now cause your body is still adjusting, it does get better and easier to live with. Keep your spirits up and good luck.
Lol jj.... I feel like I'm reading my own words in your posts.... Maybe because our surgeries were a week apart but I seem to go through something then you post it.... It's awesome really... The beans cracked me up..., the 3 week stall from what makes no sense I'm eating less then an infant lol... I hope as the months pass I will still find humour in this journey and will continue to enjoy sharing experiences with y'all ,
